Can't be used as even a single data point for why democracy can't work. From another thread. Very few were ever able to succeed in the US for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that the founders didn't want democracy because it was a threat to their affluence. It was a country made for white male landowners, that was also built on the back of 2 genocides. Your case that democracy doesn't work because of the US' failures is not a logical argument.

Demonstrably untrue.
"The Number of Millionaires Continues to Increase By Charlotte Wold Updated January 23, 2022
Who wants to be a millionaire? Practically everybody in the United States, it seems. A 2021 report finds that the number of millionaires in the U.S. has reached nearly 22 million. The number of multimillionaires has also increased, with a 24% gain in the numbers of the richest of the rich.
There are just over 21,951,000 millionaires in the U.S., according to the latest Global Wealth Report from the Credit Suisse Research Institute. The U.S. had the greatest year-over-year growth of any nation in the number of millionaires within its borders, according to the report. Worldwide, the number of millionaires has increased to 56.1 million, marking a significant rise from the year before when there were only 50.8 million millionaires."

What's that, less than 10% of the adult population? 1 out of 10 succeeding = very few. These numbers support my view, not yours. What else you got?

Can I use that same argument for public schooling?

The number of millionaires has grown significantly throughout the world, Abs. It's not about where you are from but where you do business, and that location is: online. These new millionaires are youtubers, Instagrammers, TikTokers, etc. and they live in countries around the world. What is creating these millionaires is globalism. The reason so many are in the US comes down to population, culture, and vastly different tax regulation: i.e. if our rich donors want to pay less in taxes, we'll make that happen!

The system is fucking rigged my friends - few people succeed because America is not a meritocracy, it’s an oligarchy, and so those who are born into money or with connections succeed because of that, no matter if they are stupid, talentless etc, while decent, hardworking, smart people have a difficult time because they don’t have money/connections. The elites go to private schools and because they are in private schools growing up they get into Ivy League schools or other big schools and join elite fraternities and secret societies where they make connections with more elites, and so they get prestigious jobs and rub elbows with elites and become the next generation of elites. Meanwhile those who don’t have the money/connections for private schools have a hard time succeeding unless they suck a boatload of elitist dick and sell their souls. Genuine, ethical, authentic people like me have basically no chance at success, and so life sucks for us.
America would be so much better if we abolished the Ivy League, banned fraternities/secret societies, and ensured most people who get government jobs graduated from public schools. Hell, abolishing private education entirely and dumping all of the funds we spend on helping elitist private schools into making our public schools strong would make America and the world better, but the elites will do anything to protect their elite institutions.

So no more Yale & Harvard grads for president? Nice
Public schools screwed themselves by attempting to be all for everyone instead of just focusing on basics. It's a bad move

There are issues with public schools, such as standardized testing/teaching to the test and stifling individualism, and that needs to change, but private education is just toxic - it promotes elitism and inequality and is the main cause of the rigged system IMO, I mean when all 9 Supreme Court justices are either from Yale or Harvard, that shows just how rigged things are, people who go to the Ivy League aren’t smarter than everyone else, they are just more privileged and fit in with the elites better than everyone else.

say wha? How do you gauge whether a person has learned the material other than testing? And there's a shortage of individuals? Seems to me there's too much collectivism being taught and prioritized.
Where have the presidents come from?
I agree they aren't smarter.........but even the few that are smarter........does that necessarily mean that they have common sense? No, of course not. I've known and argued politics with a few college grads, and they're failing miserably at life in general. Guess that degree never prepared for the real world, huh?

People came here because they didnt like where they were, then did their damnedest to pull the ladder up. Pulling oneself up by one's bootstraps was A JOKE. It is IMPOSSIBLE. But those at the top turned it into a goal knowing damned well it was impossible.

how do you explain all the people who become successful here then?
People of all sorts of backgrounds and nationalities arrive, work harder/smarter.........and voila! They're better off here than where they used to be.

We're still a good destination for people in full 3rd world countries for obvious reasons, but if you have to use that talking point like a lot of righties do, the country is finished anyway. Not even trying to argue that existing citizens have a fair chance anymore.

Do you know where I'm at? My sister was surprised yesterday when we went for Yoshinoya in Chula Vista to see the sign on the freeway warning guns & ammo are illegal to take into Mexico I am that close to the southern border
