It really depends on what sort of equality you're looking for and that's always going to be the reason why the answer is a resounding, "NO!"
There's always going to be some group - or even a single individual - that feels that they are being treated unfairly in some way, shape, or form.
These idiots probably don't realize it, but what they are seeking is "sameness" rather than equality. They can't understand how the two concepts are different and therefore are always disappointed with their lives and their lot, so they are always a thorn in the side of government and society at large.
A wise man once said: “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.
To be fair, no form of government is ever going to please all the people all the time. In fact, the only form of government that would even come close would be no government at all.
Anarchism
Emma Goldman defined it thusly: "Anarchism stands for the liberation of the human mind from the dominion of religion, liberation of the human body from the dominion of property, liberation from shackles and the restraint of government. It stands for social order based on the free grouping of individuals for the purpose of producing real social wealth; an order that will guarantee to every human being free access to the earth and full enjoyment of the necessities of life, according to individual desires, tastes, and inclinations."
I can dig the spirit of that, I really can. I can also see the huge pitfalls associated with having no centralized system for law and order: a government.
Can we human animals ever find a way to "just get along"?

I'm saying the civil rights movement had a great deal of success.........but like many things, has devolved and gone too far in modern day America.
I'm all for equal treatment......... that's not nearly enough for many today.

I can't recall how long you've been gone now............ but I keep thinking maybe I've grown up in a pocket within America that was never all that abusive towards others?
Whether it was gays, Jews, blacks, homosexuals, whathaveyous etc.......... it's never been a glaring and blatant issue.
You've touched on this many times, too............ to many of the loudest today, it's obvious it's not about equality at all..........but power and revenge?

It certainly is, which is why anarchism wouldn't work either.

Has anyone called for anarchy? Or is that just the assumption of what will occur should the growth of Govt ever be reversed in any way, shape or form?

I was just offering to systems of governance and comparing and contrasting.

just to go off on my usual tangents...... I've always thought these voluntary/co-op situations tend to work best in smaller groups..........but as I've rounded 50 yrs olde, I've noticed that even families can't get along all that well......especially when small amounts of money/inheritance are involved
No wonder Washington DC is so filled with corruption
