Classrooms
The article certainly makes some great points but misses out on a big one: it would upset black people.
Black people don't want to run the risk of losing their status in the victimhood hierarchy by giving equal time to injustices against some other group... ANY other group.
You start delving deep during AAPI History Month and black people will demand Black History Semester.
Sure, you'll see some black leaders say that they, "stand with [their] AAPI brothers and sisters" but the fact is that it's just lip service. It's just a way for a black person to co-opt the headlines in some way other than being caught on video beating the fuck out of an old Asian lady. Go look at the pictures of the recent "Stop Asian Hate" rallies and start counting the African American faces in the crowds. I just went through about 7 pages of pics and found 2. I saw plenty of white people in the pics... probably the same folks who protested the George Floyd killing. I see plenty of Asian supporters in the pics from the Floyd protests as well. Of course their signs make it clear that they are also pointing out their own victimization.
AAPI movements have been riding the coattails of other, more prominent movements for decades. AAPI groups have been out their supporting blacks, Hispanics, the LGBT+ community, women, and so on, but only as a background player. Now they are in the forefront and the best the black activist community can offer them is a reminder to hate whitey for pitting the two groups against each other. At least it's an acknowledgement that the black community stands apart from them.
Has the majority treated (and continue to treat) minorities poorly? Yup.
Has the majority treated (and continue to treat) minorities poorly? Yup.
Have the minority groups all played nice with each other? No fucking way.
