Woody Allen is back in the news

Dylan Farrow's accusations of molestation at the hands of Woody Allen have been investigated more than most murders and every official investigation has concluded the same thing: It didn't happen and the child was obviously being coached about what to say. 7-year-old Dylan was literally using words beyond her ken while books about molestation (using the same words) were found in Mia's house.

Why are we still persecuting this 85-year-old man?

When someone positions themself as a victim of straight, white patriarchy, they are simply and unquestioningly believed no matter how many of them are later proven to be liars. And when the lie is proven, do any of the outrageously vocal third-party accusers offer an apology?

Nope. They either slink away or they double down and start slinging words like "collusion" and "corruption" and use every opportunity they can to impugn the formerly accused's reputation even further by seeking out people who were unaware of the initial incident but who are more than willing to believe anything they are fed because... straight, white patriarchy and getting these dolts to join in the fight.

And let's not forget that Woody has another strike against him: he had the audacity to fall in love with a younger woman who just happened to be the adopted daughter of his former girlfriend. People point at the age difference as "proof" that Woody is some sort of pedophile while completely ignoring the fact that the first time he met her was when he drove her and Mia to the hospital when Soon-Yi was injured in a soccer match and she was already 17. And people also ignore that their intimate relationship didn't start until she was 21/22 years old.

And let's not forget that Mia finding out about this relationship came just a couple weeks before Dylan's "revelation."

Timelines are the bane to the scandalous and false accusations hurled at Allen. But nearly 30 years on, people are still ignoring them.

"But, you have to admit that a 56-year-old man 'perving on' a much younger woman is creepy, Prometheus."

No I don't.

First off, females being attracted to older males and males being attracted to younger females is a biological imperative. No matter what our post-modern society has to say about gender roles, in general, females are looking for a tried and true "provider" while males are looking for healthy young "breeding stock." You can talk about "cougars" if you want, but that's just people trying to turn nature on its head without realizing that there are many species where young males will "practice" with cast-off females so that they become "tried and true."

My father used to say, "Kid, when you're young you go for older women so you can learn. When you're older, you go for the younger ones so that you can teach."

It was good advice then and it's good advice now.

And let's face it: no one really gets upset at Soon-yi for "perving on" an older man.

Secondly, even in our post-modern, hate the patriarchy world, the media constantly inundates us with images of underage females in revealing clothing and it's not because the actresses "want to look beautiful for themselves," but because everybody knows what the demographics want to see.

Sure, there are plenty of women talking now about the "exploitation" they endured in their youth, yet plenty of 15 and 16-year-old, budding starlets are more than willing to show off their bods for money. And their parent-managers are happy to charge for the privilege.

And does anyone say anything about how often we have to see ripped actors and models taking off their shirts for no good reason?

In the end, Woody and Soon-yi's relationship has to be based on love, because it sure as shit isn't based on physical attractiveness, and I don't think anyone wants to go down the "submissive Asian female" road amidst the current atmosphere.

Leave the guy alone and find someone who's really guilty of something other than being a rich, white man.
