Millions of people (maybe a billion or more?) ride public transportation every day around the world without incident.
You don't care about Covid because "98% of patients survive" but if a fraction of a percent of people on public transport get hurt or harassed, you hate it.
If hypocrisy were painful you'd be begging to be euthanized.

I have not been seeing the payoff/ROI on all of the social programs you're pushing.
I've seen and agree with comments from Milton Friedman about such notions all the way back in the 70s, when you and I were just kids. Those things usually have made many things worse, imo.
