21-year-old Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa has been charged with 10 counts of murder.

His family says that he was bullied in high school and underwent various, negative personality changes: anger... depression... paranoia....


I'm going to go out on a limb and say that his name was a contributing factor regarding why he was bullied: either for its "Muslim connection" or simply the fact that he has a girl's first name as his last name and bullies used that to impugn his manliness.


Bullies are everywhere telling us how to conform to whatever traits the in-group promotes as "desirable" while shunning any traits they deem "undesirable." Bullies are in our families, neighborhoods, schools, places of worship, workplaces, political parties, governments, and especially in the media (mainstream, alt, and [especially] social).

Everyone is - at some point - a bully and a victim of bullying. We love to bully the bullies of whatever enemy out-groups we come across and then we all hide behind the "righteousness" of our in-group's platform when our bullying is exposed.
