Because of my VPN, I don't always get an exactly American news feed.
Seems the Rodney King (RIP) beating was 30 years ago this past Wednesday.
Has anything changed?
I don't think so... not really.
The police beat and/or kill a black man and the black community responds with rioting and protests. The police promise change and a few key individuals resign. Some committees are formed. Grievances are aired. Plans and promises are made.

Rinse and repeat.
What does this show us?
That institutionalized racism is deeply ingrained in America and not going anywhere fast?
Most certainly.
But it also shows us two more important things:
1. "Leftist" politicians are generally more interested in getting and maintaining the minority vote than they are in making the lives of minorities better. After all, if racial minorities got everything the asked for, they might start voting their true conscience and fuck up shit for other special interest groups.

2. Neither peaceful protests nor violent riots seem to work in the long run. They seem to be a waste of time, energy, money, and lives.
"So what are they supposed to do?" you might ask.
Simple: vote
Vote for the people that say they're going to get shit done. If they aren't getting shit done, recall them if possible or simply vote them out in the next cycle and be damn sure they know why. PROTEST THEM!
What good is it to protest the people who aren't going to do fuck all anyway?

Protest the people who promise change but then don't deliver. What good is it to vote in a minority candidate if all they ever do is make speeches but never sponsors legislation that has a chance of winning support?
