An 8-month-old died in a hot car after her father's arrest, Georgia police sayBy Tina Burnside, CNN Updated 3:15 PM ET, Wed May 4, 2022 (CNN)The father of an 8-month-old girl who died after she was left inside of a hot car has been charged with second-degree murder, Georgia Bureau of Investigation officials said during a news conference on Wednesday. Davied Japez McCorry Whatley, 20, was taken into custody Wednesday morning in connection with the child's death, police said. Whatley is accused of leaving his daughter inside his vehicle for several hours on Tuesday afternoon. According to Snellville Police, Whatley arrived at the police department just after 2 p.m. to retrieve his firearm from the property custodian when officers learned he had an outstanding probation charge. He was taken into custody and transported to the Gwinnett County jail. He bonded out on the unrelated charge Tuesday evening, according to authorities. Investigators said at no time did Whatley inform them that a child was inside the vehicle. The entire interaction with Whatley was recorded on body camera, investigators said. During the news conference, police said at some point after his arrest the suspect contacted the child's grandmother who then went to the car and found the child inside the suspect's vehicle.
The grandmother took the child to an area emergency room where she was pronounced deceased.
Whatley is expected to be transported back to the Gwinnett County jail on the second-degree murder charge Wednesday afternoon, authorities said. CNN was unable to determine at this time if Whatley has an attorney. Snellville is located in metro Atlanta. The area saw a high temperature of 86 °F Tuesday, according to National Weather Service data.

So... if your mom had killed your sister, you'd be OK with that?
Did I know my sister well at that point?
My question is more about people outside the specific family though..........why DO we care?
We don't care if people use abortion clinics......... so what's the big deal snuffing out a child or three here and there?
Has society in general suffered because Casey Anthony did what she did? or because she wasn't sent to prison? IF her parents didn't care enough to help convict her, then why should anyone else?

How often have you or anyone else changed my mind on any of these major life decisions/opinions?
I don't see my pro-choice view changing.......... just get PP out of the Govt's pockets.
THAT is one thing I just plain do not see eye to eye with the religious types. They view fetus/human life as if it's something special. I have seen no science validating that claim.

But I'm still shocked at how often we can look at the same video and still come to different conclusions.
And since you brought up abortion in the previous reply........WHY does this case upset you so? .....a few months makes that much difference to you?
If we can agree an abortion stops a pregnancy from becoming a kid being raised by people that didn't want it to begin with........isn't this fella's actions pretty much displaying the same attitude? He didn't care. Why do we?

Just crowd fund it al or have all those that believe it's a right donate their time and money. Surely there's hundreds of thousands of nurses and doctors that feel that way, right?

I gave my assist with the bills scenario to a co-worker just yesterday. Asked if they felt that drugs were being bought........is the assist money going towards drugs? And they replied "Of course"
It seems like only the 'intellectuals' can do the mental backflips it takes to excuse the shady business of Planned Parenthood and their dealings with DC.
But WHY? What makes that 2 day old so more more valuable and precious a commodity than a 7 month old in utero? I continue to fail to see what the hell is so special about our species? Is the opposable thumbs? The funny hats?
