I'm confused

There always seem to be some articles about some 50+ year old actress/model showing off her bikini bod and being called "amazing" by all the ladies and then the same ladies are calling Ashley Graham (plus-size model) amazing for showing off her flabby belly and stretch marks.

Now, I get the whole "all women are beautiful" thing but I get confused by the fact that the same people that praise Ashley Graham aren't railing against Elizabeth Hurley (for example) for promoting "unrealistic body image" or whatever the term is.

Either "fit" is good or it's not.

"Blah blah, Ashley works out. Blah blah she's probably more fit than you. Blah."

I'm not sure what MY fitness issues have to do with the conversation. I'm 55 years old. I earned this belly, and I'm not begging anyone to call me "handsome." I really don't care if Ashley works out. She simply doesn't look like she works out and I think THAT is a bad message to send to our youth: male, female, or any of the other genders.

I also think it's crazy that we talk about the "obesity epidemic" (particularly among children) and then coddle them by saying, "You're beautiful just the way you are." Sure. You're "beautiful." Too bad you're probably going to die 30+ years before your more-fit classmates.

I also love it when people point to weight/height charts and say things like, "My weight is perfectly average for my height at my age." Sure it is... if that weight were mostly dense muscle and 4 to 8% body fat, but yours is 18 to 22% fat and very little lean muscle.

"But you just admitted that YOU aren't fit!"

That's correct. If you want I'll hold myself up as a "cautionary tale," just stop glorifying being unhealthy... especially when you are also glorifying healthy people in the next breath.

And let's do it one better.........they'll all call Caitlyn Jenner beautiful.........but I bet if you told any woman she's absolutely beautiful.......cuz she looks like Jenner, you'd piss most of those ladies off.

While I have no authority to speak for anyone else on this board, I can 100% guarantee that no one will refer to you as "handsome". So no need to concern yourself over this, it's a non issue.

This is some of the stuff I really don't get.    I've been accused of being a troll from time to time.........but I'm not posting things just to offend some people.

I'm stating my opinions and beliefs. I'm not shy about it or hesitant, but it isn't like I'm purposefully just attacking others for the sake of spite.

So what's the appeal to these types? Show up, make some obnoxious statements/claims.....disappear into the ether? Reappear occasionally with various new IDs?
