Elon's deal to purchase Twitter having gone through seems to have set the world atwitter.
I love puns....
There have been a shit-load of stories in my feed about "celebs" vowing to leave the platform and others saying that it's the "death of freedom."
I generally don't give a fuck what "celebs" say but that other topic bothers me. How does every human having a voice (#humanvoices) kill freedom?
Will there be more misinformation, disinformation, and "hate speech" from the so-called "right"? Yup. In fact it might even grow to be EQUAL with the misinformation, disinformation, and "hate speech" from the so-called "left."
A story was in my feed this morning saying that the number of Twitter users "following" Republican congress members have grown while the number of users following Dems have dropped. The story went on to say that this is a bad thing.
Why?
I've always been of the opinion that freedom of speech is the most wonderful right we have because - if for no other reason - it lets you know who to avoid.
In the end, Twitter is probably just going to end up with a bunch of Trumpanzees and "Progressives" spewing insults at each other 24/7, which isn't much different than now except that there will be MORE Trumpanzees.
The downside that I foresee is a lot of people on the so-called "right" losing their jobs because of company policies. The people on the so-called "left" should be cheering about this and sharpening their doxxing skills since they know THEY will never be fired no matter how hatefully they speak.
On that note, I wonder how many "righties" will start to love the unemployment and welfare systems....
Anyhooo... I've never had a Twitter account but I'm actually thinking about getting one now just so I can watch the meltdown in real time.
