After the movie yesterday, we hit Applebee's Kid was pointing out some of the callbacks I missed like the boss of Biosyn (the badguy. Dodgeson) who apparently never created anything, just stole/bought other people's technology. Like fish that ate easy to catch for fishermen but taste crappy. I said "like Musk?" Kid said "Yes"
you guys are hilarious
So what if Musk is like Ray Kroc? He's done a ton more with the things he has bought than the people he bought them from.
He's embarrassed the hell out of NASA just for starters.
And you'd think his electric cars would be making you all giddy

He bought the company. He created none of the actual code or anything. His coding apparently socks. He buys the people to create his tech.

That is a photo from Starbucks. Comments are about private business. My husband had to rip open bread, etc. at Safeway. The guys who collect it would bitch why not just let them take it? Because the store is worried it will end up at the Swap Meet getting sold with the other stuff thrown out by the store.

He ripped bread open? To get a deal? to be funny?
Most restaurants these days are very odd/queer about the stuff getting tossed. I've been in a Kwik Trip and watched them take the food at the time stamped hour and just toss it into the garbage. Now, I love hot dogs that have been on the rollers for too long. WHY waste it, if I and others would eat it? But that's not how it works in the US. They have to tossit.....even the employees are told to not take it home. And it all gets jotted down and listed as a waste during the course of business.

We had a kid at Jack's who would snack on the burgers tossed in the waste pile at the restaurant (it was in a fridge, not out in the heat) they told to stop because they had to count the waste. Hubby was a custodian. Waxed floors. Threw out trash like bread Functional illiterate, remember?

My old boss barely had an 8th grade education. But his bout with homelessness drove him to achieve success in a variety of ways. He would sometimes have me check his emails before he'd click 'Send' because his spelling and grammar left a lot to be desired. I remember he would always ask the crew if they had any good 'ideals' to increase business. He didn't know the word he was looking for was just ideas.

It's kind of amazing how much time and energy some put into those kinda efforts. When the same or less energy could be spent solving the root of the problem
We all have our coping mechanisms.

... It's not just failing to read. It's usually a learning disability like dyslexia or some such that gets missed in school. My mother-in-law said they were told it would take 4 or 5 yrs & thousands of dollars to bring my husband up to reading level for whenever they had him tested. You don't think I tried? I did. I don't know what he needed, but I couldn't teach him to read.

I do think you tried. It's obvious.
But like your clients, we all know you just can not reach some people or help them help themselves.
You think you're helping me with your political advice, I know that. I just feel my results are more evidence of success for my particular life.
