4. "According to Liautaud, he used to hunt big game in Africa on legally organized safaris, but he no longer does."
Does that contradict what I posted?
Personally, I don't take too much issue with the big game trophy hunters ........as long as it's the ones that pay huge $Fees to do so which is coordinated by the reserves and parks that look after that kind of wild life. THEY determine which animals may be shot after they're no longer useful to the long term survival of those specific animals. The money pays for the conservation of the rest of them.
I'm not even a hunter myself in any way. I'm surrounded by hunters and fishers of all sorts, though. It's very much big businesses........but even more so a lifestyle in the country/suburbs.
Oooh... you did decide to come back to big game hunting.
And that was a very nice dissertation on how big game hunting works in the US. Unfortunately, JJ was doing his hunting in Africa. I know that the same ideas are supposed to apply, but do they, in Africa, or can you slip the guide a bit of extra cash and shoot whatever the fuck you want?
I also have no problem with hunting, Abs. I did quite a bit of it over the years including black powder and bow seasons. I only brought it up to show how he probably came to the attention of Der Drumpfuhrer: African safaris with Donnie Junior.
JJ is certainly more of a self-made billionaire than Donnie and other than the hunting overlap probably run in very different circles.
OK. That's not quite right either. Based on JJ's real philanthropy (compared with Donnie's fake philanthropy), I'm sure that JJ came into contact with friends or friends-of-friends with Donnie... political types. It's kind of hard to run a philanthropic foundation without cosying up to some political types... another nail in the coffin for the naivete claim.

You saying America is immune to bribes and payoffs? or are you saying that Govt Agencies are more pure and better able to stop crimes in the US?
It seems like JJ put in a lot of hours at those simple sandwich shops to get where he got. My question would be what stopped anyone else from doing the same sorta thing? And don't say non-compete clauses. I think there's at least 5 or 6 sandwich namebrand chains just in this area........probably many more when you count restaurants that have sandwiches on their menu.
Real and fake philanthropy...... Does it matter as long as they parted with some of their dough? I've said before it must be nicer to be wealthy and sorta decide where that money goes since it's probably more of a tax write off than anything.
And I'll never forget that deflated look on Rachel Maddow's face when she read off Don's tax return on the air. It was almost as funny and memorable as election night 2016

Their aspirations are to collect dues from even the lowest paid people........all so they can bribe more influence out of the Govt.

Are you admitting that JJ damn well knew about the connection between politics and business?
You see, Abs, the guy is just acting as a mouthpiece for Donnie and is making up a bunch of bullshit. You'd be able to see it if you weren't so far up Donnie's ass.
It's weird because you see it quite clearly when Bezos virtue signals the "left."

Politics and business? As in business people could have predicted how restrictive and punishing the ACA would get?
I see the inconsistency on the part of Bezos. If he were a conservative and was against unions, that would make sense. Tough to explain how you support the Democrats and want to prevent unions, though?

And it's tangent time! That means that Abbey has abdicated the OP but just isn't willing to admit his mistake.

But keep telling yourself he's a Democrat. I don't tell myself he's anything but a rich narcissist.
He virtue signals left and plays footsie with the right under the table.

He's been funding mostly the Left and leftist politicians of late.
He's likely about as much a democrat as Donnie was when he lived in NYC.
It's whatever gets his way at the time and whoever is in power at the time. Not too tough a formula to figure out. You know Donnie had to pay off plenty of Democrats over the years. Republicans, too.

The rich are for themselves. That includes Trump. You need to realize that. Some pay varying amounts of lip service to helping the little people, but ultimately they are about themselves

IF while he's for himself......... I get some of the things I've been waiting years for, then I'm OK with that.
The little people being 'helped' by Govt is not one of those things

Isn't that amazing? Musk has been in the news for how long now? And we're JUST hearing about this now when he's decided he's done supporting the Dems?
I like how you just assume he's guilty, too.......you'd make a wonderful jurist.
I just watched an old Milton video........the wealthy do not create inflation. Businesses do not create it. ONLY Govt pulls off that trick. Can you believe 50 years later, we're still having the same arguments.......and nobody is learning from the past.
