If you want to create a religion, what 2 things do you need?

Yeah. I'm putting this here and not in the Religion and Philosophy board. You'll understand in a minute.

That's right. All you need to create your own religion are two simple things... and neither one of them has to be a deity:

1. You need a "devil." You need some entity/idea that is bad... evil... that's going to corrupt you and move you away from thinking and acting in a way that the purveyor of the religion has determined is "good" or "righteous."

2. You need a path to redemption/salvation. You need to say and do (or regularly attempt to say and do) certain things which will make you less and less like the "devil."

Think about any established religion and I guarantee that they have these two things. Think about their sects... same two things. Cults... same two things.

Hell, even hard atheism is a religion with "religion" itself being the "devil" and atheism being the path to salvation.

Now, turn your mind towards political ideology and "social justice" causes.

Got it?
