Let's see During the Obama/Biden years, Russia took the Crimea During the.Trump Administration Russia did nothing Joe is president, and now the Russians are taking the rest of Ukraine Hmmmm I'm sure it's just a coincidence. Yeah. If they had done it during Trump's presidency, Donnie would have done nothing but praise Russia (as he has done in the past couple days), which would have pretty much proved that Donnie was in their pocket and absolutely ruined any chance he had (pre-Covid) of ever getting re-elected.
Also, the Crimea attack happened when Crimea was attempting independence (as two regions are doing now) and Russia backed (and probably prompted) those sessetionists as they are doing now. Those declarations of independence throw a big wrench into whether or not the UN or NATO can legally interfere. Not to mention that Russia and its [tenuous] ally, China, both hold permanent seats on the UN Security Council which pretty much stymies any response from the UN.
As far as the US is concerned, we were dealing with the ongoing war in Afghanistan and more worried about dealing with UN and NATO troops being withdrawn and having to hand over control to the new Afghan government. Going to war with Russia then - as now - would be a bad move.
Vlad knows this and that's why things are happening the way they are. If Donnie had been re-elected in 2020, I think the invasion still would have happened and lame duck Donnie would have done nothing and he would have dodged any comparison to Obama's "lack of response to Crimea" and the Trumpanzees would be spouting BS like Donnie is right now about how this is all just a "peace-keeping mission."

2. But they are pretty good assumptions based on actual facts.
We KNOW that Trump and Vlad were "chummy."
We know that Vlad and Trump both hated NATO.
We know that Vlad and Trump both hated Zelenskyy.
We know that Trump was breaking down the alliances with Western Europe.
If Vlad had invaded during the Trump presidency, the worst that would have happened then is exactly what is happening now, but it probably wouldn't be as bad because Trump wouldn't impose the harshest sanctions because Trump would absolutely go against Western Europe and NATO.
However, the best result for Vlad would be for a second Trump term and the US withdrawal from NATO.
Trump didn't get the second term so he goes ahead with the invasion because he knows that all he has to worry about are sanctions, PLUS he gets to benefit from the praise from the Trumpanzees who want to call Biden "weak" even though his sanctions are arguably harsher than anything Donnie would have ever thrown his way.
With midterm elections on the way, Vlad is hoping for a shift in Congress that will probably mean a shift in the sanctions... if he can last that long.
But of course he probably can because he's already tested the waters (2014) and had 8 years to find workarounds... most likely with China and their financial network which isn't under sanction.
I also can't help but notice that Russia is building military bases near the African countries that China holds economic sway over. How much do you want to bet that when those bases are complete that Vlad rents out part of that space to China?
Speculation? Sure. But why is it bad for me to speculate and not bad for Trumpanzees to speculate?

I believe if there is a God, it would care more how we treat our fellow humans than if we pray in the name of Jesus or Allah or Buddha, etc. The thing is there are dozens of Christian groups with a sliver of a different vision of Christianity. Anyone can read the Bible & believe God is speaking to that person to do whatever like the Branch Davidians or the People's Temple. We should NOT have the 10 commandments in or around any courthouse. The laws of the US may share some points, but taking God's name in vain or adultery are not crimes in the US. |

My buddy keeps resisting the urge to convert me. I think he just likes tossing the word heathen around.
I can agree with that entirely........HOW we treat others is a perfectly fine gauge to use. Now you go overboard and out of your way, imo.....so you're better than me. But I do not go out of my way to harm anyone, so I'm better than some others.imo too
I just finished a pretty good cop series in Finland and the main character told a person of faith that they were very similar ..........one of them didn't believe in 4,000 Gods......and the other didn't believe in 3,999 Gods. 
Fer Chrissakes, I guess you're right on that. Though I would also say the nation was founded by Godly men for the most part........so though we protect the rights of Atheists ........ I'm not looking to scrub all references to their works in the Constitution or other writings.

That's sorta what made American Gods season 1 so interesting.........and the role of Merlin in Excalibur, too. He noted that the old gods were being left behind. They NEEDED followers otherwise they cease to exist.
