Maybe a week and a day for those of you not living in the future...
the EC votes will be ratified by Congress and then Cheetoh the Tweetoh will have 2 weeks to pack his bags and get the fuck out.
I expected more violence between Election Day and now and have been pleasantly surprised by its lack, but I can't help but worry that the "very fine people" who were told to "stand by" are working themselves into a frenzy that will become unleashed on January 6th.
I hope I'm wrong again.

If not Jan 5 - if Democrats win both seats - or Jan 6 - when the EC votes are ratified - then there's still Jan 20...

I'm mildly surprised there hasn't been more outright violence, too
But then again, I expect those with olde fashioned principles, families and something to actually lose to usually be more reserved than those who have different priorities.

Large scale protests? Major attacks?
All 500 of those idiots have done what exactly in the last 40 years? Besides occasionally join the Aryan Brotherhood in prison?

The number of White Nationalists in the US is only 500? Are you high?
Far right groups are behind most US terror attacks and have been for years.
Of course, because you don't trust the media, you won't trust the links and you'll probably avoid the source material as well even though it's independent of the media outlets.

I was just remembering the numbers from a national gathering in Charlottesville. 500 idiots with torches........ outnumbered by thousands
I would certainly trust jpat's interpretation of those reports......but the reports by themselves? In this day and age? About as trustworthy as the media, imo
"The report showed the number of victims killed in those specific kinds of attacks nearly tripled in four years, rising from 26 in 2015 to 89 in 2019."
Guess they didn't want to start with 9/11 for fear of appearing biased against Muslims?

That chart tells me Homeland Security and the TSA are a joke and should be eliminated.
I'm recalling jpat mentioning a funny about how every Klan or white supremacist meeting was filled with govt agents......as in, they likely come close to outnumbering the true believers.
I've also referred to myself as a bit of a nationalist.......who just happens to be white. Has nothing to do with white power or racism, though. I like to believe I'm looking after the best interests of all of my fellow Americans.

PS: HOW can those left wing figures be so low with all of the 'peaceful protesting' and looting that's been going on?

"'peaceful protesting' and looting" That sounds like two separate activities to me... Could it be they were carried out by two different groups with two different agendas?

There obviously were a majority of actual peaceful protestors.........but the ones doing the looting were somehow lumped in with them by the many denials from the media

1. The obvious reason that you don't read the media is because you can't read
2. If the different agencies are stepping on each other's toes, then there are obvious issues with coordination, but I suspect that the number of people in those hate groups still number more than 500
3. Loving you country and wanting what is best for it and ALL of its citizens is a good thing. Wanting those things to the exclusion and detriment of the world at large is foolish and dangerous

Again, your lack of reading skills rears its ugly head. Riots are NOT acts of terrorism even though they are terrifying and terrible, just like being a member of a social club doesn't make one a socialist.
If the Proud Boys "protest" on Jan. 6th and end up in clashes with the police and/or antifa (for example), will it be terrorism?
If it starts with slogans and some fights break out, I'm going to go with, "no."
However, if they storm the Capitol Building with guns blazing, then I'd have to say, "yes."
This is the part where you come up with yet another logical fallacy (probably another reductio ad absurdum) and make yourself look even more foolish.
But don't worry, Abs, over the next 4 years, we'll agree here and there on the idiocy of presidents Biden and Harris, and their supporters.

Are you claiming... Fake news?! On this one, Abbey actually has a point. Many news outlets used the phrase, "mostly peaceful protests" to deflect from the rioting.
Pointing out the difference was one of the reasons Jill banned me.

Personally, I just assumed that they were mostly peaceful protests carried out by mostly decent people with genuine grievances... who were joined by some opportunists who saw the chance to take advantage of the situation. I thought Jill banned you because you were a nasty drunk who called her a cunt... or so she claims.

I'm sure that most of the protesting was peaceful, but I'm also sure that the media downplayed the more negative goings on because we've gotten to the point where pointing out bad behavior will get you condemned as some sort of "-ist" or "-phobe" should the perpetrators of the bad behavior happen to be members of certain special interest groups.
"Cancel Culture" is real and media outlets and advertisers are more than aware of its potential effects.
I've said many times before that the people saying that we should "have a dialogue" are the ones doing everything they can to ensure that it never happens.
As for being a "nasty drunk"....
The vast majority of my "I'm drunk. Ask me anything" posts were made while I was completely sober. I don't drink more than 2 or 3 beers every few nights (maybe add on a couple fingers of whisky if I'm feeling frisky). Go look at any of my threads. I doubt you'll find tons of grammar or spelling mistakes like you would in a similar thread from CowerPower for example... or some of Jill's rants.
I generally leave the house to go out with friends and have enough booze to actually be drunk. Tonight's a good example. It's New Year's Eve. As much as I like you guys, I won't be here. I'll be out with friends at a pub, drinking, laughing, and singing up a storm and will probably have little interest in this board or any other when I get home.
Jill, like most of her ilk, latched onto the idea of me being a "drunk" because it's a way to marginalize my opinions by denigrating my character... Cancel Culture.
They called me a racist because I said protests - peaceful or not - during a time of pandemic were a bad idea. They know it's a bad idea. But, in order to maintain their social status within the group - and because they had no logical retort - they resorted to denigrating the character of anyone who pointed it out.
Post-modern liberalism... progressivism... whatever... is just as bigoted as the KKK or the Proud Boys or whatever other group they choose to condemn. It's Sociology 101.

And I said, "or so she claims." You know what they say about facts and feelings. Oh yeah, I have no doubt that both left-leaning and right-leaning media outlets have their own agendas... and not just in the US. It goes on here in Australia to a lesser degree, although it becomes more noticeable around election time. And traditionally, the biggest offender is Rupert. That prick's everywhere... he's worse than fucking COVID. Yeah, it's real and I'm fucking sick of it. I understand and support the idea of addressing societal injustices and problems... we've been doing that since we stopped being tree huggers trees moved into Bedrock, although some of us still miss the swinging lifestyle. However, it now seems less like righting wrongs and more about evening scores for previous insults or slights, whether they were intentional or not. And while it's all very well to right historical wrongs, I don't see how any of that will be helped by punishing people in the present for the sins of their forebears in the past. By the way, "have a dialogue" is usually code for "shut the fuck up and listen to what I have to say." Like you, I don't normally drink that much. Two or three beers every week or fortnight, with an occasional HLL thrown in for good measure... but only if I'm in the mood for it. For me, tonight will just be like any other night, although I might actually make the effort to have a drink. However, you know the daily struggle I face with overcoming the inertia of being a lazy fucker... Of course the protests - peaceful or not - are a bad idea during a highly infectious global pandemic. I have difficulty in understanding why anyone would not be able to grasp a fairly straightforward situation like that. If you remember, I also copped some flack from Queen Jill when I questioned the safety and wisdom of the various peaceful protests in support of #BLM in my own country. COVID-19 simply doesn't care how just or noble someone's cause might be. It'll simply use the opportunity to infect as many new victims as possible and through them, spread to still further victims. Extremists on both sides - left and right - fuck it up for the more rational and reasonable people who are genuinely trying to make positive progress. It's the moderates in the middle that seem to achieve lasting change. And speaking of the KKK, with their hoods - masks - and their robes - protective coveralls - surely they represent the benchmark that all other protestors should be striving to emulate when attending public events during a global pandemic...? You can never take too many precautions. PS - I'm off to have a HHL... so have a good evening and I'll catch you next year, for 2020 v2.1.
