My hometown can be accurately summed up by the following trailer:
The rest of Nevada is a mythical place that may or may not exist. For tax purposes, most of the Las Vegas Strip is not actually in Las Vegas. The rest of the city is dull suburbia, Phoenix with better shopping and restaurants. Summers here are hell, winters are awesome.
The covid situation here could have been better. But someone just had to come here and host a superspreader rally, and cases skyrocketed after that. The anti-maskers don't seem to have much power here. Out in the wild, I routinely spot people wearing two of them. People follow the rules, for the most part. Casinos take the regulations seriously; they dread the governor shutting them down again, so they behave.

I haven't been to Vegas in a looooong time. All I can really remember is miles and miles of cookie-cutter cul-de-sacs and the strip, which is a (purposeful) assault on the senses.
Every local seemed to work for the casinos (or tangential industries) giving the impression that Vegas is just one huge "company town."
Are you a casino worker? Is that why you work at night, man?

Yeah, most of the neighborhoods have identical houses. I had hell when I first moved into mine. Using cars as markers isn't foolproof; for some reason, people a bunch of people have the same cars too. Christmas decorations are a good indicator, even in the summer. A few people in the area leave theirs up all year long. Nah, I don't work in a casino. Even before the pandemic, I spent as little time as possible in them. According to my dad, the casino he hangs out in is empty most of the time. The few who spend time there now are bored seniors who avoid each other.

I'd suggest painting your mailbox some particular color, but, odds are, everyone else would just do the same.
"bored seniors who avoid each other."
The outgoing administration?

That would be terrified seniors who avoid a rampaging toddler. đź‘Ť
