I'm not even sure who that means? The 'My Rights' types that wanna be left alone? or the 'My Rights' types that want everything they do paid for by others?
And did that answer the smog question?
Their right to not be masked. My folks were here in the 50s & 60s. We went to Utah around 1971. We came back in 1978 Mom's siblings smoked Dad's father smoked incessantly. He would have a cigarette lit almost constantly when we visited. So they grew up with second hand smoke in the house.
I don't think Cali started really addressing Smog until the mid-70s....... so you guys might have gotten a few breathfuls before you even left.
My Mom smoked until recently. The emphysema is probably going to get her shortly. Smoke has never really bothered me all that much and I am still healthier than most.
When it comes down to masks........this is still the responsibility of the afeared, imo. If you're worried about it, protect yourself, by all means. But to expect, much less demand, the rest of the world concern itself with your fear? No. That's just going too far. This Govt over reach should have been halted a long time ago by our courts. They should be tarred and feathered, too.

Nor would he be familiar with the story of Job where Satan walks into the throne room & just shoots the breeze with God & the 2 peoceed to place bets on whether Satan can get Job to denounce his faith. People didn't sell their souls to Satan back then. His job was to test man's loyalty to God. There was only 1 God. It would be like saying one served the Vice President instead of the president.. There is 1 god to Jews. So an interpretation was since man is created in God's image, women was as well so God must be both. All good came from God's male side like a father proud of his son. No. I do pretty well. And I'm usually much more upbeat than most people I meet. But a set of parents with 12 kids are still the authority over the 12 kids. God is magic. With a though, it is created. However, in the beginning was the Word which was with God so there was something else. My mythology teacher pointed out the Bible starts twice. There's an overview sort of "God made everything", then the 7 days bit. She suggested it was 2 stories that got merged because one can't discard the word of God. But as magic, God doesn't need anyone else to create anything. Taking it further, God was created by man. Man trying to understand a cold, harsh world dreamed up how they thought God would be. Some had mother gods. The Jews were a patriarchal group so their interpretations ran to men. This is why mothers punish for no reason, but men are good. Adam is innocent, it was Eve that fell. The world of the Bible was harsh. There was no way to prove paternity thus harsh sentences for unfaithful wives and men who potentially spoil the lineage. Wasn't it Romans who had the right to kill their kids into adulthood? So, yeah, down to shellfish, etc. Rules to keep the line pure. Rules not to get food poisoning. And the priests throwing in whatever pissed them off. Look at the Mormon Word of Wisdom. Joseph Smith was not happy men were hung over & the room was filled with smoke. Revelation not to use tobacco or alcohol. |
