DAAS were some twisted fuckers... and way ahead of their time.
I had to look up a few of the references though, like the last one.

DAAS were some twisted fuckers... and way ahead of their time. I had to look up a few of the references though, like the last one. The Doug Anthony All Stars initially performed together between 1984 and 1994. The original trio comprised of Robert Piper, Tim Ferguson and Richard Fidler. In 1985, Robert Piper left and Paul McDermott joined and they performed together until 1994. The clips you saw were from THE BIG GIG, a sketch comedy, music and variety series on the ABC between 1989 and 1991, which is where I first discovered them. After a couple of one-off specials in 2003 and 2013, they reformed in 2014, with Tim Ferguson, Paul McDermott and Paul Livingston, AKA "Flacco" from THE BIG GIG, however they've been inactive since 2017. As you can imagine, there's been a lot of crossovers along the way with other performers and entertainment acts. Paul McDermott probably has the most successful and varied entertainment career of all of them, working for multiple TV networks on various TV programs and projects. In 2010, Tim Ferguson announced on an episode of GOOD NEWS WEEK that he had multiple sclerosis, which required him to occasionally use a walking cane. He has experienced MS symptoms since the age of 19 and his condition has since progressed further and he now uses a wheelchair. He also owns the third largest STAR WARS toy collection in the southern hemisphere... PS - John Douglas Anthony, 31 December 1929 – 20 December 2020, was an Australian politician. He served as leader of the National Party of Australia from 1971 to 1984 and was the first and second longest-serving Deputy Prime Minister in Australian history, holding the position under Prime Ministers John Gorton, William McMahon and Malcolm Fraser.

Those guys are fucking HILARIOUS! I've always thought so. And it's the sort of humour that doesn't age as badly as some other sorts.
