and Trump is still whining about the election.
And he's still blocking the incoming administration from the access they need in order to combat the virus.
If you needed more proof that Trump was killing Americans, look no further.

He never does anything without profiting in some way. I just wonder how he is profiting from the demise and future suffering of so many Americans.

At first he probably saw no advantage or "profit" to himself or his presidency in combating COVID-19 more aggressively or effectively. And now that he realizes he made the wrong decision, it's far too late to do anything about it, so why bother? Besides, it's already been pointed out that he operates on a "transactional basis", so unless he perceives some sort of direct benefit to himself, why should he bother making an effort?

As Ant said above, at this point, Trump is doing nothing because there ISN'T any profit in it, but I think he really focused on his post-presidency leadership (or at least, guidance) of the GOP moving forward. He is now going to ensure that there is no healing. He's going to expand his cult of personality and continue to keep America divided.
That said, the cracks in the Democratic party, which got spackled over in order to win the election, are already starting to reappear, and will no doubt widen over the next 4 years.
The GOP - with Trump as cheerleader - is bound latch onto these wedge issues to lure moderate Dems to their side for 2024.

1. If for no other reason, than it'll keep some of the public attention upon him and he'll remain relevant... as will his brand. And as we know, Donnie the Dick does love being at the centre of everyone's attention. 2. So you're saying it'll widen under Biden? 3. If a week is a long time in politics, four years is a fucking eternity. And people have short memories.

1. 'Xactly
2. Absolutely. "The Squad" is already causing problems and you know as well as I that the "progressives" held their noses to vote for Biden simply to keep Donnie out of the White House for 4 more years. With a "somewhat" sympathetic ear in the White House, the "progressives" will mount an onslaught of legislation, which, while well-intentioned, will do little more than cause more problems.
3. And Trump will do everything he can to keep reminding them, should they start to forget.

And Trump will do everything he can to keep reminding them, should they start to forget. Of course, while I actually like Biden and think he's an immense and immeasurable improvement over Donnie Darko, at the end of the day this is little more than a return to the status quo... the same status quo that led to Trump the Terrible being elected in the first place. Unless I'm mistaken, people were fed up with and completely sick of the status quo. They wanted something better, something different, something new and improved that would change their status quo - and their children's - for the better. In that context, it's perfectly understandable that they would want to take a risk, look outside the box and try a new approach. It's simply a tragic coincidence and a great shame that this was when Donnie the Dunce decided to step up to the plate. And while returning to the previous status quo may indeed be a huge improvement over the last four years, surely it's only a temporary fix at best? It simply puts us back where we began, in square one. And unless I'm mistaken yet again, one of the signs of insanity is constantly repeating the same actions, but expecting a different outcome...

We'd all love to see improvements and even vast changes, but the one thing that bothers me about "progressives" is that they seem to want to cause injury to the "enemy" in the process, which would lead to legislation that is far from equitable and another big step towards authoritarianism.
No one can truly claim to be a champion of equality while doing their best to deny it to some other group.
THAT has long been the biggest failing of the US, and I see no end in sight regardless of which "side" holds the power.
