A truly sustainable libertarian community would be a bit more like a collection of willing and able Amish types that brought actual skills and abilities with them. You can't just show up and expect others to take care of you.......unlike much of the US believes right now.
See? You still think libertarian utopia can exist Who needs police? In a different story it pointed out one gal was leaving food out for the bears so that's part of the boldness because her right to feed the bears was greater than her neighbors' right to not be attacked. One little girl watched in horror as the kitten she was playing with was snatched & eaten by a bear. One person's priorities aren't another's.. If you have a car, you see the sense in paved roads. If you don't have a car, who needs to waste tax dollars on roads?
Did I say utopia could exist? No. As long as people are involved, you're gonna have issues and problems. The specific kinds and the sheer amount? That's more controllable by the methods you choose.
Some people need police all the time. Others only need them once in a very great while.
Same goes for Fire Departments.
So are you one with nature or not? In nature, bears would eat kittens......and sometimes little girls.
Except in the original arrangement/tax passage........ it was only the gasoline buyers that were paying for the roads. Don't you see the beauty in that? Anyone not using a motor vehicle could avoid paying for roads they never use anyway.

Everyone uses roads, dude. Bike riders don't buy gas, but one sees a lot of them on paved roads. My cousins played ball in the road when I was a kid. Don't get stuff delivered? If I live in a city, I don't expect bears. Coyotes, sure. Cougars sometimes.

NOT everyone.
Bike riders can be charged a Registration Fee, just like cars........you like all those Fees/Permits, right?
Playing kids in the street rarely do damage or wear on the road surface itself.
Delivery is all part of the Shipping Fees.
Cougars but not bears? Once you destroy their habitats, they tend to migrate wherever we leave out food/garbage.
Or do you wanna eliminate another species entirely?

Who wants to eliminate a species? I stay away from areas with bears. I also stay away from the county parks with cougars. The zoo is as close as I get. So people getting deliveries aren't using roads for those deliveries? Groceries? How about when they moved into wherever they live? Samantha Stevens the stuff?

As the human population continues to grow and expand.........it's inevitable it intrudes upon other species.
You don't take advantage of all of those tax payer provided parks? One more reason you should favor my suggestion to just sell them off.
Zoos have an expiration date.......how much longer can we justify them? after Seaword and the Shamus?
As I said, those costs are calculated and taken care of by the businesses. They then pass along those costs to their customers. Like everyone that doesn't even own a car, but buys groceries is still funding all those planes and trucks that bring them their foods/products to buy.
I was just talking with a trucker and oddly enough he stated that the higher gas prices have led to him making even more money than before.........I'm guessing because people are now used to the idea that EVERYTHING will be going up in cost. Thanks $15/Hr peeps!

I'm thinking his increased profits might have to do with number of drivers. How many are actually driving? How many maybe died? Some of those 600,000 had to be truckers. But they are using roads. The business might be charging them, but they aren't getting their crap Magicked to them. San Diego zoo has a breeding program. Also apparently a giant sperm & egg saving program to preserve endangered species.

No doubt some have died, truckers are notorious for being in horrible health, too.........but the majority of the issue is people not returning to work. The Signing Bonuses they're offering right now are crazy.
Like I said, in that way they pay with the eventual cost of their products. This is something so many people just can't seem to grasp every time they insist on raising the costs of doing business and taxing/regulating them more and more...... it's the CUSTOMER that ends up paying for it all. How much has your grocery bill gone up recently? or just in the last 5-10 years?
So you don't see the Vegans and PETA people finally getting their way with zoos?

PETA is crazy. Bill Maher is one Remember they went crazy over Obama killing a fly? The only way gas price could figure in would be if they average the highest cost per gallon-like $5- rather than actually figure the various price per gallon I know they are notorious for fudging books. One of my sister's math teachers said one always fudged the sleep log but he knew he went too far when he swerved to miss the pink elephant in the road.

Penn & Teller did a number on PETA in one of their episodes of Bulls*t At least one of them is a big time libertarian.
No, but that's hilarious. Though I do feel a very, very slight pang when I kill some 'useful' insects in the house. But I figure they trespassed, so I'm well within my rights.
Maybe....... but it seems like almost every Trade or Service I've checked into recently has flat out just plain raised their prices. And there's no arguing with them. WHY do you think Inflation and other cost of living numbers have risen recently? THAT is what happens when you get 'MORE Govt 'types in office.
Another great example of too much Govt. Some people can work more than 8-11 hours a day. Thus they're being deprived of income with more and more regulations. Some people aren't even fine doing just 8 hours. Everyone is different. And ever since cell phones have become so ubiquitous it's not like road safety is really the highest priority.

www.peta.org/blog/obama-fly/So no, apparently you can't kill bugs per PETA. You can't have pets. So all that stuff. Roaches. Silverfish. Earwigs (hate them). They are taking advantage of the shortage. Apparently there's a conspiracy theory that companies will use this to permanently eliminate selection. Smaller brands like Mr Pibb will vanish as the Corporate Overlords save a buck & increase profit. Although I am hitting Vons(safeway). They have 2 ltrs of Canada Dry or 7up for 99 cents. A 2 large is a 6pk. (6x12=72. 2ltr is 67 oz). Wheeee! A&W!!!!! It's the whole fire at the refinery so gas goes up that same day or the next? The supply chain shouldn't be affected for a week at least. Or the old gas Wars. There was a cheap station I always hit on El Cajon Blvd-Texas Street gas station. It is now a Mobil. I'm thinking the Arco across the street is in heaven it doesn't have to match the Texas Street price. Bothe Mobil & Arco were $4.05 yesterday when I did laundry. I had to junk a lot of furniture when I moved. I had checked & the Billy bookcases are only $50 each. They were out of stock for 2 weeks. They were in stock on 8/6 so I ordered 2 for delivery. Delivery was set for Wednesday but when I checked Tuesday the delivery company didn't have the items. 4 phone calls of around 30 minutes each, 2 hangup after over 30 minutes, an online chat (after several "No one is available") I was informed my only option was to reschedule so fine. Sunday 8/15. When I checked Saturday again the delivery people (Taskrabbit) didn't have the order number so I traveled to the damned store (current TV ad braggingbhow one could order from home & have it delivered with ease). Some 30 minutes of them vanishing into the back room a couple times-the item was out of stock so it wasn't getting sent to Taskrabbit & it would loop indefinitely, but the manager I spoke with claims to have fixed it. They would be in stock Monday & he would call.me to arrange the delivery then. My suspicious ass was at Ikea Monday buying 2 more bookcases & all 4 are supposed to be delivered tomorrow. (Crossed fingers). It Is hell getting old. I carried those puppies for years. Last was around 6 yrs ago. I had to get a nice man at the store to help me. 77lbs. Damn. Embarrassing. After delivery I get to assemble. Yeah!

Those PETA types are nuts, plain nuts. But as a planet, we're pretty inconsistent with what we call acceptable killing, too.
of course they are! And you and your favorite party fully supported it as you've killed off smaller business and competition. We'll be down to a dozen massive conglomerations after it's all said and done. And those will of course be the ones that play along with the Govt on everything from spying, reporting and pushing covid to the Nth degree.
Even though I drink more soda than most, the 2 Liters really don't hold much appeal to me. They tend to go flat before even I can polish them off.
Ouch! And I thought $2.94/Gal sucked. If/When you get to replacing your vehicle......... pick yourself up a nice used Toyota Prius C. Excellent owner history and you'll get 45-65 MPG.
We don't make things anymore......we're supposedly a Service Oriented Economy. And you've just seen how well we do on service. Communication and simple inventory tracking with the tech available today should be easier than ever.......yet they tend to suck even worse? There's no excuse. Fingers crossed that manager comes thru for you.
You haven't bumped into any friendly younger types in the new place yet? Or know anyone already? heheheheh the wife and I just made a project of assembling her lawn mower grass catcher and then my newest snowblower. I ran int othe same thing as you...... I've been watching online waiting for the price to drop, but then they all started to disappear from stock and say 'Discontinued'.
It's like they want us all over a barrel on everything now.

It's like they want us all over a barrel on everything now. Oh, there's a guy here, but I can't guarantee when I can find him. I paid him to unload most of my boxes, probably too much by your estimate. Way more than I'm paying Ikea to deliver these bookcases. $49 for 4 bookcases-same as 2 bookcases. I paid the guy $60 for carrying 50 boxes 3 different days (so $180). I am sitting in my living room waiting now. SAN DIEGO, CA 92108 CreatedAug 18 - 6:27 PM PDT To SAN DIEGO, CA Expected ByAug 19 - 1:00 PM PDT Putting together? I have put so much furniture together. I could have paid $36 per bookcase to the Taskrabbit guys, but why? I shouldn't need to look at the instructions, but I just realized they have changed the box. Long & thin...so the former back piece which was a solid board is now slats? Or cardboard so opens up? It's pressed wood which is why so heavy. I am not driving like I did. I'm tanking up like every 3-4 weeks. Excuse me? That Decoy postmaster General is gleefully fucking up the post office when he owns alternatives to it. As Jon Stewart pointed out, who else picks up your crappy letter from your mailbox & delivers it across the country for what is it? 50 cents now? 60? I really don't know. I can order 4 bronze saints from Funko in Washington (Everrett?), a Thor pin (ginourmous) & Han & Chewie keychains & they are delivered to my door in San Diego in less than a week. Dude, have you never seen Rollerball with James Caan? I could see that. No countries anymore. Corporations. Dude, how long does it take you to drink a 6 pack? Granted, I like flat soda. Don't like the bubbles. And you hate government regulation breaking up monopolies

Who is actually mailing letters anymore? What with email and texting? It's moistly junk mail they don't charge enough for, imo. Packages are their biz......but even that has seen some major price jumps recently.
Of course. Caan was great in that one. Well, when the politicians are done selling out the country, somebody has to own it......why not corporations? It certainly won't be the millions that signed up to be taken care of by the Govt.
I can knock out a 6 pack in less than a day, easy. I used to be 16-24 cans/day......but I got olde.
It's the bubbles I'm in it for.
Incorrect. I happen to agree that ONE corporation getting too massive and strangling competition is usually a bad thing. But all it takes is an order/ruling from Govt. It doesn't require an intrusive Govt inserting itself and picking winners and losers.

So it should only take a day to kill a 2 ltr. You know what has vanished? 1 ltr sodas. Because I have cats (knock off videos), I pour soda in to about the top of the label, then water (like melted ice). Illy is such a little bitch. It's fan season & she will just reach a paw out & knock the box fans we use over. Because she can. We have coasted with fairly stable prices for years. Of course companies are jumping at the chance to increase their profits now.

I still have a few times when the darn thing goes flat before I polish it off.
Have you checked gas station convenience stores? I noticed that supermarkets and gas stations seem to get different size cans and plastic bottles lately........or maybe it's been going on awhile?
Squirtgun?
What do you think are their profits? What do you think is a reasonable profit to make?
