CDC’s warning not to swim with diarrhea slammed for crappy animationBy Yaron Steinbuch July 5, 2021 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention made a splash on social media when it warned Americans against swimming with diarrhea this summer — with some joking the agency’s animation went poo far. “Don’t leave your mark at the pool this summer!” the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention posted on Twitter ahead of the July 4 holiday weekend. “It only takes one person with diarrhea to contaminate the entire pool,” the agency added, along with a gif of a girl going down a slide while leaving an unmistakable brown streak in her wake. In another post, it wrote: “Diarrhea and swimming don’t mix! Follow CDC’s Steps for Healthy Swimming to help protect yourself and those you care about from illness at the pool.” Along with the message is a cartoon image of a girl submerged in a toilet bowl while wearing swimming goggles and a snorkel. “If you wouldn’t do this …,” the adjoining caption reads, “… then why would you do THIS?” The question refers to a boy pooping in a pool – leaving another stomach-churning visual. Social media users quickly took note of the runs and dumped on the bizarre campaign. “I saw it, so you have to as well,” one nauseated critic said in a tweet. “Imagine spending thousands on an art education, to one day be asked by the federal government to create an animated gif of smeared poo. That’s wild,” another responded. “Does this happen so often that you needed to warn us!? the graphic was not needed. if they’re using twitter, it’s because they can read,” another disgusted Twitter user insisted. Meanwhile, others just poked fun at the unexpected PSA. “The look of bliss on the kid’s face as she leaves a giant skidmark on the slide is priceless,” one observant commenter pointed out. “Forget #covid19 beware of #s—-y kids,” another joked. On the serious side, the CDC also posted a link for a description of how germs spread in recreational water. “Stay out of the water if you are sick with diarrhea. If you have been diagnosed with Crypto, don’t go back in the water until 2 weeks after diarrhea has completely stopped,” it explains.

Yes, but according to the CDC, Americans apparently couldn't... If you ask me, it stinks! Admin, I think we need a poo emoji.

Only the lucky half... The unlucky half don't get old. And countless private pools.

Die young, leave a good lookin' corpse
surely, we can get the Govt to take over all private pools

I'll consider it, but it's already too late for you. Local government already enforces laws regarding privately owned pools in this country.

That's why there are surf life savers stationed at many public beaches around our country. And why swimming lessons are available for school children. And why there are also safety laws regarding the use of water craft.

Yet you lose over 200 countrymen to drowning every year? More fences and life savers are clearly needed.
You're adding yet one more thing? We were pretty much expected to learn to swim before school age in these parts.

You're adding yet one more thing? We were pretty much expected to learn to swim before school age in these parts. And there'd be a lot more without all of these safety efforts. We do the best we can, but just because it's not perfect, that's no reason not to continue. The swimming classes are for those who may not have learned as yet... and to check the swimming proficiency of those who have.

You're saying that's an entirely good or bad thing?

You're saying that's an entirely good or bad thing? To paraphrase Clint Eastwood, "There's nothing wrong with people drowning... so long as it's the right people getting drowned." However, in general, I think it's a good thing for government - federal, state or local - to do what they canto ensure the safety of their citizens.

no matter the $Costs?
no matter the encumbrance it places onto others?
All things in moderation, my friend........also, be like water.

I said, "do what they can." How do you equate that to, "no matter the $Costs?" No one has a bottomless supply of money, men or materials. You say, "All things in moderation, my friend", so how about you trying that when you leap to conclusions?

Simply because that's how it always starts here, Mac. There's no limit to what they'll find to spend other peoples' money on. That's the fundamental question that never gets asked anymore.....How much is too much?
That's not how our Govt Establishment approaches spending, though.
The conclusion I'm coming to is most people are much more accepting of the Govt spending other peoples' money than I will ever be. Am I incorrect in that reading? Maybe it's a bit different in your country and people are much more aware of what their govt gets up to.....and that there should be a limit on their activities?
But that does not seem to be the case here, I'm afraid. We've literally got multi-millionaires in office, with lifetime perks, insisting that there's a major problem here with wealth gaps and equity.
