y'know......... I keep hearing that "Let's get money out of politics."..........and yet, whether it's private or publicly owned, there's tax dollars involved and all sorts of financial incentives.
I don't get how one is more trustworthy than the other? Outside the US maybe.....but here? I guess we ought to do away with money then
You fucking communist
The Govt has been working on that.
I figure it only be a few more years or decades and it'll all be completely electronic.
Watch the evil shenanigans then

You mean like credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal?
The government created those?

No dear, the Govt just allows them to exist under their tightening control.
You've heard how banks are required to report people withdrawing their own money? or the targeting of certain people and groups in their ability to do business?

I've heard about banks having to report large withdrawals. I don't know what amount constitutes a "large withdrawal" but I'm guessing it's more than the cost of a new sofa but less than the amount of a compact car. The movement of large amounts of cash is going to send up red flags anywhere that has problems with drugs, domestic terrorism, and rampant tax avoidance.
What's that old saying?
"If you have nothing to hide, why worry about?"
That's the one. I hear that a lot from the folks who like "stop and frisk" laws and the ability for the police to just make up any old reason to pull you over and search your car, so what's the problem with DHS getting a notification when you start withdrawing thousands in cash?

I was gonna post an article just for you last nite....... the media actually worded it as if it was a fortunate thing the cops stopped someone, who later turned out to be wanted for murder, for the simple 'crime' of not having a front license plate.
They even went on to explain how often major crimes get solved thru the process of investigating very minor things. I almost couldn't believe my eyes.
IIRC, it $10,000........which used to be a lot of money. Until you compare it to a hospital bill these days
We've also all seen what a bang up job they're doing on the war on drugs.

1 & 2: Another lucky traffic stop? Tell me more about the nearly 20,000,000 unlucky ones.
3. Do people pay large hospital bills in cash these days? I can't picture the average American wanting to walk around with large sums of cash. When you bought your house, did you slap $20k in cash down on the table for the down-payment? If so, did they give you a weird look?
4. But sooner or later, they'll get as lucky as the cops making traffic stops, won't they?
First rule of detective work: Follow the money, right?

1. You mean the 99.9% that end up with either a warning or a citation and nobody harmed?
3. The average American can't scrape up $400 in an emergency. When I bought the lot for my first home, I slapped down about $7,000 IIRC. Then I paid extra on that lot until I have over 20% down for the home construction, thus avoiding PMI payments.
I get weird looks all the time.
4. We don't follow the money anymore........especially in regards to career politicians and their friends and families.

1. Yup... those ones
3. That's right, so when people start making large cash withdrawals, alarm bells ring. Duh! 4. You dodged the notation of your own hypocrisy and are now trying to change the subject.

2. Oh, I get it. Because over 1/2 the country sucks at finances......people that actually have money should be eyed with extra suspicion.

That's not what I said at all. I said that the average person... hell, even the average (legally) rich person doesn't walk around with wads of cash these days.
People use plastic and digital, especially for large purchases.
I still think it's hilarious that you think pulling people over for busted taillights is the height of investigatory process but balk at cops watching for large cash withdrawals.
"Hey, Sarge! Mohammed bin Khalil just took $30,000 in cash out of his bank account and rented a U-haul truck. Should we worry about that?"
"Shut up and look for dangling air-fresheners. We might get lucky and find a guy with a bench warrant for failing to pay parking tickets."

Just as you claim I'm not thinking clearly........ here you are........ ignoring that I support smaller Govt, less laws and fewer reasons to be pulled over in the first place.
What's with the stereotyping of Khalil?
Just the fact that we've got laws on the books against air fresheners........while the TSA goes out of it's way to frisk little old men and women.......while making sure NOT to profile Middle-Easterners........says it all, no? It's ALL a joke at this point.

1. It's hard to, when you constantly talk about how well they seem to have worked out.
2. I pulled a name out of a hat.
3. I'm not a fan of the TSA
