Southern Border Crossings Hit Record Levels Last Month — But Surge Slowing DownJoe Walsh Forbes Staff Business Updated May 11, 2021, 08:55pm EDT Immigration agents caught almost 179,000 people trying to cross the U.S.-Mexico border last month, Customs and Border Protections said Tuesday, the largest figure in decades — but arrests increased just 3% from March, ending several months of double-digit jumps.US-POLITICS-IMMIGRATION Key FactsBorder arrests in April hit their highest level since at least the early 2000s, and they’re up 63% from April 2019 and more than tenfold from April 2020 (arrests plummeted after former President Donald Trump began rapidly expelling migrants last spring). Over 60% of last month’s arrestees were single adults, mostly hailing from Mexico — the vast majority of single adults were expelled to the other side of the border within hours, because President Joe Biden has partly continued Trump’s controversial expulsion rule. The number of unaccompanied minors taken into custody dropped from an all-time high of 18,960 in March to 17,171 in April, relieving some pressure on an overburdened federal shelter system. Just over 50,000 migrants were arrested in April after crossing with their families, a decrease of about 4,000 from March, but most families apprehended last month were released into the United States until their day in court arrives.
Crucial Quote“CBP continues to see a large influx of illegal migration along the Southwest Border,” CBP acting head Troy Miller said in a statement Tuesday evening. Surprising Fact The number of arrests reported last month is likely far higher than the actual number of people who tried to cross the border. After the United States started expelling border-crossers within hours of their arrest last year, the rate of repeat offenders shot up. Last month, 29% of all migrants who were expelled from the country had unsuccessfully tried to cross the border at least one other time, CBP spokesperson Nate Peeters told Forbes.
Big Number21,124. That’s how many unaccompanied migrant children were in U.S. custody as of Monday. The number of minors crossing the border shot up this year, and Biden ended Trump’s strategy of rapidly expelling them, forcing the federal government to suddenly find a way to house record numbers of children. In the early months of the Biden administration, many migrant children stayed in crowded Border Patrol facilities, but the vast majority have since been transferred to temporary shelters run by the Department of Health and Human Services.

I know. I mentioned the world population elsewhere.
However, if you look at the birthrates country by country, you'll find that most of the industrialized nation's rates are dropping to below replacement levels.
We may be pushing 8 billion, but the fact of the matter is that we should actually be closer to 9 or 10 if our birthrates were at replacement levels.
We're simply not as good at multiplication as we once were.
China is about to start cracking down on certain industries (including my own) to make having more children more financially feasible in the hopes that people will start multiplying again.

What a calamity! Below replacement levels? I guess open borders it is.
Many people are........just not the more conscious ones. You've only got the one, correct? Get cracking, buddy!
You're kidding? They're number 1 or 2 population?......and they still want more?
I think that's the biggest reason you're not seeing 'replacement levels' among so many.........the sheer costs involved in having kids. Those from outside the 1st world nations......or lifer welfare recipients don't seem to mind nearly as much.

1. No one said, "open the borders." Stop being such an alarmist idiot.
2. Fair point. Because I only had one, I'm part of the "replacement" problem, but I'm still doing better than you, right? It's OK though. My brother had 3.
3. Of course they do. They're soon going to have a lot of old people who aren't in the workforce and have no children to care for them, which means that the government is going to have to do it, which takes money away from their plans for economic domination. See my essay on China and the One Child Policy for more information.
4. Of course it's the cost of having kids, which is caused by corporations ass-raping us on a daily basis.
Countries with higher birthrates also have higher infant mortality rates AND higher mortality rates in the 18 to 30 male demographic due to wars etc. If one out of 4 babies are going to die and 2 out of the 3 remaining are going to die before they're 30, people just start pumping out kids. It's a biological imperative.

1. You and I will simply have to agree to disagree on this point. I think for all intents and purposes, we already have pretty much open borders. You do not. I think I'm more accurate than you are.
2. Obviously you're doing better than me. My sister had 7. Wanna hear more about the welfare state?
3. I keep saying robots better be the answer. Cuz people are not. They'll still somehow find the money for economic domination, I suspect.
4. Ass raping? You guys always lose me on these points. I've worked for tiny amounts compared to others for years and gotten by. I've seen how the more 'educated' approach demands more and more in wages, yet that always results in higher cost of living......so I don't see it as helping a thing. People tend to spend more as they make more. That has not changed since the 1940s. If anything, it's gotten worse.
I didn't realize our 'defense' department was in that many areas. Please, refer to Agent Smith's definition.

1. And I know that you're wrong
2. Wanna hear about abortion?
3. China absolutely doesn't want to run up a deficit. It would cheapen the "brand."
4. Why is it that you can blame the government and the people but not the corporations that control them both?
5. Then you might want to google a map of US military installations around the world. This may come as a shock to you but ICBMs travel really quickly.

1. Just as I know you're incorrect.
2. I've love to. Especially if it becomes a mobile franchise that's extremely cheap for anyone to use.....hopefully because the sale of the 'waste' product subsidizes the services.
3. I didn't realize China had any other reputation?
4. Chicken&Egg argument. I don't blame the wealthy for hiring a team of accountants to find every deduction and loophole for the same reason. The more rules and regulations, the more you have to 'play' the game.
5. I'd guess they're quicker than the stuff Hamas has been lobbing lately. There's no reason for our military presence the world over......except for spreading the $Dollar and keeping the MIC/Contractors in business.

1. I have the dictionary and all the encyclopedias on my side.
2. Way too much to unpack there....
3. Not sure I follow
4. Covered that exact argument elsewhere
5. Yup. They are. About 16,750 mph and the biggest ones have a range pushing 10,000 miles. You can do the rest of the math for yourself.
