Miles Taylor is an American former government official in the George W. Bush and Trump administrations, best known for his previously anonymous criticisms of Donald Trump. He was a Trump administration appointee who served in the United States Department of Homeland Security from 2017 to 2019, including as chief of staff to former Homeland Security secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and acting secretary Kevin McAleenan.
In 2018, while deputy chief of staff to Nielsen, he wrote The New York Times op-ed "I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration" under the pen-name "Anonymous", which drew widespread attention for its criticism of Trump. In 2019, he published the book A Warning. He did not reveal himself to be "Anonymous" until October 2020
Taylor's decision to have a career in government was largely motivated by the September 11 attacks in 2001, stating that "I wanted to focus my entire professional life on making sure a day like that wouldn't happen again, and dedicating my career to, what I thought, was the mission of this country, and that's the advancement of human freedom.
From February 2017 to June 2019, Taylor worked at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), including serving as Chief of Staff for Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen and Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf. Taylor defended a version of the Trump administration's travel restrictions, and was later involved in debates regarding Trump administration immigration policies.
In October 2020, Taylor revealed himself to be "Anonymous", the author of a September 5, 2018 The New York Times op-ed, "I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration", and the follow-up book, A Warning, published in November 2019
In August 2020, Taylor took a leave from Google to support Joe Biden's presidential campaign.
Taylor is a lifelong member of the Republican Party. He donated to the Barack Obama campaign in the 2008 presidential election; according to Taylor, he was "gunning for John McCain... [but] wanted to be able to tell [his] kids that ... [he] supported the first Black president of the United States."

I know I feel much more secure with a ping ponging weasel like this as a likely lifelong political/security expert.

Pingponging? As if there's only one right "side" to be on?
I notice that you didn't mention the guy's outrageously impressive academic credentials.

I included the link, didn't I? Are you impressed by him or his credentials?
It's not a matter of right or wrong, either. It's a matter of actually being a conservative or not. Many within the GOP could stand a refresher course on that.
Voting for Biden or Obama would not ever be a part of that equation, imo

His credentials are extremely impressive. I say that as someone who really would know.
As for what it means to be "conservative," you need to go back to my post about it and try engaging a few more brain cells.
IMO, a vote for Trump would be a vote for the absolute worst things about conservatism. Didn't I just see a headline about a bunch of Republicans threatening to leave the party if the RNC didn't distance itself from Trump?

Yes, you did. And that's my point.
The GOP hasn't been voting and supporting the ideas it's constituency supports. Thus, they aren't really conservative, though they prefer to call themselves Conservatives. They've slid to the left right along with the Left.
So when they refuse to get the message, which is how and why Trump got elected........ then they shouldn't be surprised when people think they should just go ahead and switch parties then. Big Govt? Big Spending? Failure to act when you are in power? Good riddance.
Any of those headlines mention how the US went from energy independence for the first time in decades.........to a gas shortage crisis in just a few months? That's just one issue affecting everyone's bottom line.

I hate to have to tell you this, but Republicans are the ones who have increased government spending the most during their tenures. THEY are the ones who add the most to the National Debt.
If you want smaller government, lest waste, etc. voting Republican has always been the wrong choice.
That's not saying that the Dems are the right choice. I'm just pointing out the flaw in your "logic."

I'm well aware. Why do you think I've never called myself a Republican?
And there's the rub........ I don't trust either one........and I can't, in good conscience........vote for the people promising to spend more, especially on things I'm against.

The word 'assistance' has been completely obliterated, imo
I think some things can help..........but the way they're doing things these days? Nope. A co-worker was just chatting me up the other night and discussing his family member that has become pretty much a lifer on Welfare.
The employers in the US are screaming about the handouts exceeding the wages......even though they've been offering up to $15/hr. Not enough willing to leave the couch as long as the freebie funds keep rolling in.

"Lending a hand" and "paying their way" are two different things. I'm for the former, not the latter.
YOU seem to want to throw out the baby with the bath water, as usual.

How did you come to that conclusion from what I wrote?
I just said that assistance used to be a legitimate word.........but Govt has ruined it.

No. The government didn't ruin it... not alone anyway.
The government (of the people and by the people) doesn't operate in a vacuum. They have a lot of "influencers" (lobbyists) who direct what "for the people" is supposed to mean.

You really are the ultimate Optimist, aren't you?
Just caught a piece on the fella that first proposed helping the elderly into retirement, by the way. The Townsend Plan .........interesting tidbits, but it evolved as per usual into a "the rich aren't paying enough for others" argument.

You seem to be claiming that if it weren't for the lobbyists.......... the people themselves would be getting much better service from their Govt........while ignoring that this govt is a reflection of the American public.

Not exactly.
Lobbyists directly interfere with politicians, but that isn't the end of it. Do you think that's the end of their operations? Lobbies have operatives in the MSM (your favorite people) as well as the alt-media. They have operatives in social media: their very own "wu mao armies" so to speak.
You mentioned that we are "groomed to be consumers." Who do you think is doing the grooming?
You're right that the government is a reflection of the public. If the government is fucked up then so aren't the people.
That's why we need the one thing that has been completely eroded from both left and right, administration after administration: a good education system... a fact-based education system.
Even if we ban lobbyists from the halls of government, they will still operate through their other channels. The only way to guard against that is by having the one thing they don't want: an educated populace.

I don't know whether to point out the aversion to useful education among most people......... or just offer up myself as an example?

I don't think most people (including you) have a clue about what a "useful education" is... and that's a big part of the problem. If one sees drone work and "getting by" as the best that they can hope for, what's the sense of spending all that time in school, right?
To solve that, we need better teachers. We need teachers who can make learning enjoyable while showing students all the possible ways that whatever knowledge is being taught is applicable in the real world.
Most of all, we need parents who can see the possibilities and will work with the teachers and their children to aspire to be something.

While I agree....... I also think it's intellectual thinking like that which wastes so much in resources on people who are simply just cut out to be drones.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.......right?
