Today I got to go, visually, to another idyllic place - Florence, Italy - where the most exquisite art in the world is on display. In a museum in Florence is the statue of David, by Michealangelo. On PBS, Rick Steves took me on a tour of the time and place that I studied, so many years ago, the Italian Rennaissance, the beginning of a Humanist movement, where art became less about religion and more about human beings. So many artists, Donatello was an early one who used perspective in his bronze plaques. Michealangelo painted as well as sculpted, and several of his works were featured. And of course, the great Leonardo Da Vinci, painter, sculptor and inventor. So, I am posting this image of David, in the museum, and hope that one day I get to see it in person.

That is just stunning! I love it! Today I worked on my own little idyllic place, my woodland niche, as I call it. Dappled shade of redbuds, an ornamental crabapple and a few maples, so I planted perennials amongst the natural violets and phlox. Ferns and some ivy, a few colorful baskets to attract hummingbirds, and a hanging basket of jasmine that smells so fragrant! I love this time of year! I found an unusual fern, a Jurassic cinnamon fern that should grow up to look like this:
