National Review Chicago School Defends Sex-Toy Event amid Backlash over Undercover Video Ari Blaff Thu, December 8, 2022 at 6:48 PM
A prestigious private school in Chicago, Francis W. Parker, defended dean of students Joe Bruno on Thursday following the release of a video in which he said the school’s LGBTQ sex-education programming includes passing around sex toys and instructing students on how to use them.
“During Pride — we do a Pride Week every year — and I had our LGBTQ+ health center come in. They were passing around butt plugs and dildos to my students. Talking about queer sex. Using lube versus using spit,” Bruno says in one clip.
Bruno, who has been in his current role for four years, added that students asked him: “‘How does this butt plug work? How do we do — like, how does this work?’ . . . That’s a really, like, cool part of my job.”
Bruno reportedly wasn’t aware that his statements were being recorded at the time by a member of Project Veritas, an American organization known for making similar undercover videos. The outfit has been successfully sued by an organization over its tactics.
However, the release of the undercover video apparently has not shaken Francis W. Parker School’s faith in Bruno. The school defended him in a statement released Thursday.
“He was filmed without his knowledge or permission while describing one example of our inclusive, LGBTQ+ affirming, and comprehensive approach to sex education. Veritas deceptively edited the video with malicious intent,” the statement said, as reported by WGN-TV.
According to the outlet, the statement also said: “Parker administrators and Parker’s Board of Trustees support Parker’s programming, the strength and inclusivity of our curriculum, and the dedicated and talented faculty and staff that teach it.”
The revelations have prompted the school to offer “mental health check-ins” for students, Chicago’s NPR satellite, WBEZ, reported. During the surreptitious video recording released by Project Veritas, the interviewer off-camera tells Bruno: “You have so much freedom. So much wiggle room,” to which Bruno responds: “So much freedom. So much money to do stuff.” According to Parker’s tuition and fees website section, cost of enrollment at the institution ranges from just over $37,000 a year for junior kindergarten up to over $42,000 for grade twelve.

I would think they would have gone off site/field trip parents signed for, but it IS a private school. They follow their own curriculum
That's what the parents pay the bucks for
It is probably advertised as a plus
Why no mention of the age? I'm betting High School
I know this is part of your hate public education series, but it isn't public.

It's more the attitude of so many teachers these days. They can't all get hired on with public schools..........which is how so many end up in private and secretly undermining their employers.
Would you have been OK with your high school student being 'coached' in such a way by their teachers? I gotta be honest, I thought the Sex Ed we received was lacking because of censorship..........but these days? What can't the kids find themselves already on the internet/cell phones anyway?

Parents pay for private school to be premium so it's not really the same, dude. This is up to the rich mofos paying for their darlings to go there.

I don't think anyone paid extra for their kid to be coached how to F better. Just me?
It's indicative of what teachers have been getting up to for years

THESE ARE NOT PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS. Damn, you have some real issues with teachers, don't you? Time was fathers took their sons to a prostitute to "learn sex". The man was supposed to be experienced while the woman was expected to be a virgin. Do you not know history? So who knows? Maybe the parents didn't care or even approved.

THEY ARE TEACHERS. They came from a college setting in order to get their degree.
You figure it's a separate course of training for private vs. public school teachers, do ya?
I absolutely do have a problem with the entire educational system in this country. They have skipped over the necessary and required basics for decades.......and yet have all the time and resources for this garbage they refer to as being 'well rounded'. It's disgusting and embarrassing, imo. They should all be ashamed of where it's gotten to these days.
I was just watching a podcast with a husband and wife and they were talking about how younger women are now expected to perform 'scrum' work. (Never heard the term before, fyi)
Doesn't matter to me.........the teachers were in the wrong......and if the parents approved, they're complicit.

I figure what is allowed in a public school setting is vastly different from what is allowed in a private school setting. The administrators of the schools have final say over curriculum So you take issue with parents allowing 16 yr olds+ to see sex education on this level?

But WHY would that be? Aside from the occasional prayer or a class on theology..........WHY would the basics of education be all that different? Reading, writing & 'rithmetic.
Jesus Christ merh..........I have said age appropriate how many times? This is how the Left keeps framing this shit........while Sesame Street is playing Drag Queen storytime and Biden's strange guy is stealing luggage.
So at what age do you feel full on pornographic material is appropriate on school grounds? And are you open to it all? or just a few of the less severe genres?

So yes, Private School Curriculum is the problem of the patents paying $40,000 per year for their little darlings to attend those schools. It was an optional class specifically aimed at LGBTQ students. A parent of a child of that persuasion might choose to have an educator teach their child about safe sex practices they may not be comfortable discussing.
carry on................ I'm sure there will be no completely avoidable problems or predicaments in the future.

This guy one of yours? Dirty Santa?
California school official accused of bringing high school choir to "private adult party" with "dirty Santa," "open bar" and "half-naked men" By Li Cohen December 13, 2022
The president of a California school district board appears to have resigned after he was accused of paying high school choir students to perform at a "private adult party" at his residence. During that party, according to the complaining parents, the students were offered alcohol and subject to inappropriate comments from a "dirty Santa," among other things.
Steven Llanusa was the president of Claremont Unified School District in Los Angeles County, a district representing two high schools, an intermediate school and six elementary schools. He had just been reelected as a school board trustee in the November election after campaigning as a 35-year teacher and a delegate to the state California School Board.
But last week, his track record with the area came to a screeching halt when allegations emerged that he had subjected high school students to an inappropriate situation at his home.
He was accused of hosting a private party at his home the weekend of Dec. 3, for which he allegedly invited high school choir students to perform. But according to the parents of the students who went, the party seemed to be one of debauchery.
"Mr. Llanusa invited the high school choir group into his private adult party in his home," Sabrina Ho, one of the teen's parents told the Claremont school board at a special meeting on Friday, according to video shared by CBS Los Angeles. "They were encouraged to take part in food and festivities. The students didn't begin their scheduled performance until over an hour later and were offered alcohol by party guests among inappropriately dressed adult entertainers."

You know it's bad when even a Ho gets upset.

Remember the joke in shows. How the awkward parent goes to have "the talk" with their teen & is relieved the kid learned the basics in school sex ed? A lot of parents are uncomfortable talking about sex with their kid. It's like getting a puppy. People want a puppy. They don't want the dog so that gets dumped at the pound by those not up to dealing with it. Like the shelters emptied during the quarantine but filled back up as people went to work again. People have a baby. They don't have a child. They don't have a teen. A baby draws on all those motherly instincts. A child is a bit more work, but still dependent on the mom. A teen? A teen is that space between child & adult where that dependent child is becoming its own person. That is the whole purpose of parenting. To produce productive adults. Sadly People don't realize that They're focused on themselves. What the child does for them & their ego. So that baby that needs you for everything turns into the child learning to care for itself with your guidance becomes the teen learning how to make choices that will affect its life. The whole purpose is to make future cogs so this mudball rolls on. It's NOT to have children that love you to fill some hole in your soul because your parents didn't love you enough. It's not to have kids because that's what grown ups do. Get married, have kids, etc. So yeah. The private school guy says it is an OPTIONAL class for his HIGH SCHOOL students ages 14-18. So you think a 14 yr old is scarred for life being shown a butt plug? OPTIONAL. Do you think the average heterosexual teen wants to sit through an optional class where they are discussing gay sex issues when they could be playing video games or whatever?

What percentage of kids do you think have access to a smart phone or the internet? or both? There's really hardly a need for 'the talk' anymore.
Agreed, too many see their kids as disposable or not worth the effort it takes to raise them.
Agreed 1000%. Yet, we're really not seeing a society filled with young adults prepared for Real Life.
I'm sorry merh.......while I am not a prude by any means.......after all these years of grooming and stranger danger....... I just don't think it's appropriate for ANY teacher to be pulling out the sex toys for the kids. Call me olde fashioned that way.
I think a 14 yr old interested in butt plugs can find them on the internet just fine.
Do you think a typical hetero kid wants to get preached to about gay and lesbian and transgender issues the entire time they spend in school? I could maybe see a Guidance Counselor discussing it a little and making some references.......but not interactive.

Did you not get a sex ed class in school? Damn, dude. Because my mom wasn't told about puberty by her (nurse) mother, she insisted I attend the free class held in the evening at the school with the parents allowed to attend when I was in 4th grade (it was offered to 5th & 6th grade classes). So I am quite familiar with the setting & concept. Is that the problem? You think they show the sex act in person or some such?
