When the end of the world comes, I'm sure they'll have other matters to worry about. Not really. An end of the world scenario would force surviving humans to revert to fulfilling their most primal needs first: air, food, water, reproduction... by whatever means necessary.
We cloak ourselves in the concept of "civilization" and delude ourselves into thinking that we have moved "beyond" our instincts even when there are many studies out there that show how easily we can be nudged out of "the light." That said, should I get to you before the neighbors, I promise to marinate you in HLL before tossing you on the barbie. No, because I interpret an "end of the world scenario" as exactly that. There's no one left to fear or worry about. Of course, it's really just an extinction level event for one or more species... the actual planet will most likely be just fine in the long run.
