Parents say proposed logo for Georgia elementary school resembles Nazi symbol
COBB COUNTY, Ga. (WSB/CNN) – An elementary school near Atlanta has released a new school logo that some parents say looks like a Nazi symbol. Parents said they want to know why Cobb County School District officials didn’t see a problem with the school logo that was proposed for East Side Elementary School. Rabbi Amanda Flaks and Stacy Efrat, two members of the Jewish community who spoke about the logo, both have children who attend the school. “I want to see the logo not only taken away, I want a direct apology to our community – not just the Jewish community but the entire community,” Flaks said.

I didn't care what the old logo was. An eagle as a sole supporter for a shield is extremely common. I could have gone with Roman legion stuff....

Well, it's not exactly a huge stretch of the imagination, is it? And it obviously hasmuch more in common with the Nazi symbol than the American one.

It's not a huge stretch.......... but eagles are a pretty widespread mascot, too
I was just talking logos/mascots with an older fella wearing a Mishicot High shirt......it appears they have abandoned their Indian logo now. Despite the protestations of the family on which their mascots was based off of.
Origins of Mishicot name are vast Virginia Parlato For HTR Media Artist Mike Sponholz stands next to his sculpted eagle modeled after the Harley Davidson symbol. Sponholz will create a snow sculpture during Mishicot’s Winterfest celebration.
Did you see that Mishicot ranked No. 16 in an article about weird Wisconsin town names?
The author noted that Mishicot means “hairy leg.” What was not pointed out was that Mishicot was originally spelled “Mishicott” and was the name of a Native American chief who was a friend of one of the first settlers of the village — Daniel Smith.
The term “hairy leg” actually refers to the feathery leg of an owl — other translations for Mishicot include “turtle” and “covered by clouds.” Descendants of Chief Mishicott now spell the family name as Meshigaud.

The eagle is just one aspect of the symbol. There are other factors such as layout and style to consider. I certainly wouldn't mistake the two.

It's like looking at the clouds. You don't see the "shape" until someone points it out and forces you to see from their perspective or maybe like when someone points out a continuity error in a TV show or movie: once you've seen it, you can't un-see it....
Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar....

1. Yeah, but sometimes you're the one who spots a cloud "shape" or a continuity error, because of how obvious it is. Strangely, I was just thinking about both of those ideas the other day... clouds and cigars. 2. Well, surely that depends on whether you're Bill or Monica?
