Bronx boy denied school field trip shares positive newsJun 23, 2022, 10:33amUpdated 1d ago By: News 12 Staff After sharing the story of being denied the chance to attend his end-of-school field trip with News 12, John Astre tells us that some positive news has come from the ordeal. News 12 reached out to the Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park in East Rutherford, NJ, the destination of P.S. 9's field trip for students to cap off the year, and park officials personally reached out to Astre's family to invite them to an outing at the park. His family has said he was left off the trip because of his weight.
News 12 caught up with John and his mother Shatia just moments after he graduated Wednesday morning. "I know this cannot fix the problem, it definitely doesn't fix the situation - but it definitely helps the problem, and that means so much," Shatia Astre said. "I felt that it was a blessing from God that he didn't want me to be left out."
John and his family will be heading over to American Dream this week with his family, and say they are looking forward to enjoying this experience together.

Is that the son? He looks a little old to be an elementary school student.
My wife and I (or my beard and I) have been chuckling for weeks over a stand up bit by Greg Davies in which he describes a 'fat chicken kid' that eats a whole fried chicken every day. A 6 yr old that weighed 10 stones. (140 pounds)
This story was printed in several areas, and none of them provided a height and weight description of the lad. Which I found very odd given that another young man, a little older, recently plunged from a ride's great height to his death.........and the biggest contributing factor was his size/weight was above the Safety Standards for the ride. \
upon searching........just look at these fools now.........
TheGrio Family of Tyre Sampson demand ride from which he fell to his death be torn down Tue, June 21, 2022 at 9:15 AM·3 min read
“What if it was your son?” asked a local activist on Monday, using a megaphone to demand that the “death trap” Free Fall be demolished.
The family of Tyre Sampson is calling for the Orlando Free Fall at ICON Park to be torn down.
It has been less than three months since the 14-year-old boy fell to his death from the amusement park ride, and, according to The Orlando Sentinel, his father visited the site this past weekend and told the newspaper, “I came up here to get my peace.”
But Yarnell Sampson found that there were no longer any mementos of his son. “I just wanted to know, did the people know that a young man actually died right here?” he contended. “It blew my mind that eight out of 10 I asked didn’t know. They had no clue.”
On Monday, members of the Sampson family, their attorney Benjamin Crump, as well as Florida state Rep. Geraldine Thompson called for the ride to be torn down.
“These companies cannot be allowed to get away with this,” said Crump. “To SlingShot Group, to ICON Park, executives, you all cannot simply sweep this under the rug as if Tyre Sampson’s death doesn’t matter.”

Now I have no doubt this father will get his piece $$..........but to tear down a ride that functions well for just about everyone else?
