I did no homework on this (surprise, surprise) but I was told Marlboro has been trying to acquire Juul for awhile now.......and because they can't quite get it done, they've decided to lobby the Govt to shut them down instead.
Just strikes me as yet another VERY inconsistent thing the Govt does. They're still funding tobacco farmers, though

Tell that to Al Capone, Jeffrey Epstein and a long list of others who fell out of favor or finally got caught.
