.............. to lower it's AC usage on hot days to prevent overwhelming the existing grid........while simultaneously being told to trade in your gas cars for electric vehicles.

What is a volt? What is an ampere? What is a watt? What is an ohm? Farad? Coulomb? Joule? Hertz? How do all of these things relate to each other? Do all pieces of electrical equipment require, use, and expend these things in exactly the same amounts?
Where did you get your degree in electrical engineering?

You're welcome to explain to all of us how an electrical grid that strains with the current levels of Demand can function with a larger nationwide demand.
After that, tell us all how people who can barely afford to get by now will all be able to afford new electric cars? Or you just gonna suggest more public transport again?

1. I'm not an electrical engineer but I know that strains are caused by prolonged demand at certain voltages. I also know that these strains would be non-existent if the grid weren't an average of 50 to 70 years out of date in most of the country.
2. That's a hard one. If people weren't paying between 7 to 10k per year in health insurance premiums, deductibles, and co-pays maybe they'd have enough money to buy an EV. Then add in the 3 to 5k they'd be saving on gas....
But, you're right: if they had a good public transportation system nearby, that would be nice. Then they wouldn't have to use that saved money on cars at all.
Good idea, Abs!

2. Only the paying customers are paying $7-10,000/yr. A good portion of the country is paying nothing, or barely anything at all. Which is why the payers get bills so high.
Good thing public transportation is entirely free of cost, huh? Remember, even NYC can't manage to break even since going public.

2. Which is why more and more bills go unpaid and the company that insures the insurance companies - wholly owned by the US government - ends up footing the bill to the tune of about $10k/person/year. Just imagine how much money the government would save every year if all they did was pay ten cents per aspirin instead of $10.
3. Who said anything about free? And why do you insist on measuring everything against NYC? Has anyone ever claimed they were the best example in the country or even the world? Do you think that NYC is so awesome that if they can't get it right, that no one can?
Oh yeah. YOU don't want to fund anything with your taxes that you personally won't ever use... except that one day - for whatever reason - you might actually need said service and then you'll bitch about how horrible it is even though YOU were the one trying to vote down the funding that would have made your experience better. There's a reason you don't get filet mignon on the dollar menu.

I'm taking 1 of the most densely populated areas in the US. We couldn't justify public transport across much of the US because we are so spread out. Heck, even our little city bus line is pretty empty most of the time. They should just shut it down. Don't forget, I use Chicago for gun violence, though.
I just know there's better and more convenient options already. Like Uber or Lyft.
I'm more of a chopped steak guy, any way WITH ketchup

1a. Do you think that "public transportation" means one public transportation company for the whole country? 1b. Where does your little city bus line go? Maybe it would do better if the routes changed a bit? 1c. Of course you use Chicago. You always go to the bottom of the barrel to provide an excuse why we should get rid of barrels. 2. Transporting one person at a time is better than transporting hundreds? 3. Nah. You're just a "fuck everyone else" guy... with racism

1a. No, each city has to have it's own little agencies and enterprises.
1b. It would do better? Better at what? Blowing money? The cost and convenience of driving your own car is cheaper and more convenient here than waiting on the bus. So unless your plan is to use the force of Govt to drive up those costs in order to make public transport the only option for most people, you're not going to get people to ride the bus. They have made several changes over the years .......nothing has upped ridership to justify the continued operation, imo. Even spending $millions relocating the bus station and building a little Taj Mahal for what should be just a very utilitarian depot.
1c. You griped when I use NYC. You gripe when I use Chicago. Use Killwaukee if you'd prefer.
2. You're looking at it from a communal sense, of course. Not an individual's freedom and convenience viewpoint. Never mind comfort and personal preference. Flying using the airlines is of course the best way to fly millions of travelers, rather than everyone flying themselves. But be honest........if money were no object, you wouldn't prefer your own Lear jet and skip all the hassles of going thru the typical airport experience?
3. Keep telling yourself that, Gweilo. If you keep repeating the lie......it simply must become reality, right?

1a. Did I suggest otherwise?
1b. So, it's, "If you can't afford a car, you don't deserve to work!" which seems at odds with your, "If you are able-bodied then you should be working" mantra.
1c. Wet babies and windows
2. No one is saying that you CAN'T drive your own vehicle, only that providing a solution for people who can't really afford them. See 1b.
3. I don't speak Cantonese but that term is considered racist. Thanks for proving my point.

1b. Part of deciding where to work OR live, is the proximity to both.....as in is it affordable to live in a place and commute to work. Those 2 go hand in hand, imo.
1c. Moist
2. That solution always ends up costing other people money. THAT's the part I disagree with. If the Govt got out of the way, we could literally be flooded with tiny inexpensive vehicles available in other countries. This would allow for more vehicles parked and better fuel economy.......but their 'Safety Standards' are the reason they give for protecting us all.
3. You win. I'm totally racist against white F'ers like yourself

How many rescued dogs are you spending your money on these days instead of just euthanizing them?

We have rescued a dog or two. Are we required to do so?
Yeah, tossing a ton of money into a direction that doesn't really end up paying off for you? Wasting.
Didn't Bill Maher recently point out the tremendously high cost per unit the govt agencies were pushing for the homeless?

1. Nope. No requirement. Just interesting to see which species you value.
2. Paying off for YOU. That's the crux of it isn't it. You can't see the benefit for you, so it's just "fuck 'em."
3. And?
