If the teacher had been a foreigner, they'd already be in jail and possibly already beaten to death. I stopped a high school student from stabbing his classmate with an x-acto knife and all the principal of the school wanted to know was why I dared to put my hands on a student. I also stopped another student from bashing the knife-wielder in the head with a chair. I had to reimburse the school for damage to the chair. A foreigner here can't even fight back to save their life since it's illegal for foreigners to hit Chinese under any circumstances. Of course, if you pay off the police, you can get away with just about anything.... That's what - I'm guessing - happened in the case here: the teacher reached a financial agreement with the parents (AND the police) to stay out of jail at least for the time being. If a higher up (who hasn't been "compensated") tells the police to put the guy in jail, that's where he'll go.

WOW!
I purposefully only posted the headline cuz it was a Physics teacher....... quite the lesson in physics, huh?
Those examples give yet another good reason for embracing a bit of capitalism no matter where you are.
And that seems like a contempt for foreigners that puts mine to shame.
