Oh yeah, a child abuser and a slave owner... Lock him up. Police officers are hopefully better equipped and trained to deal with such situations. The hospital worker should've sort out back-up from security or law enforcement.
I'm kinda mystified by this belief that cops or security are so much better prepared for violent whackos than anyone else
Yeah, it's a real mystery... It must be something to do with their equipment, weapons, training, the fact that they're law enforcement.

Have you seen many police officers and their physical condition?
Some are bulky and in shape......but plenty look like they have difficulty getting out of the squad car

That doesn't change what their responsibilities are... And whose fault is that?

That's the part that seems to be up for debate. Prometheus doesn't even agree with the Supreme Court on this one.
I tend to disagree with many in the general public who seem to view the police as their person arbitrators and saviors.
I'm not sure........I mean, it's the individual's fault for falling out of shape. It's the department's fault for not holding standards firmly. It could be the court's fault for excusing standards like that coming down from employers.

1. Courts have been wrong before... just look at how many convicted criminals were later found to be innocent. 2. Jpat has referred to the police as an emergency service... so he seems to view them as potential saviours. And he certainly seems to be in a position to know. 3. If individuals don't meet department standards, they should be given supportand the chance to rectify the matter. However, if they fail to do this within the allotted time period...

Someone is now blaming it on race, of course.
And they have an article saying the same police dept rescued a dog from drowning weeks earlier. I like dogs.
One problem I notice in the post is that a bystander is the one all wet, not the 2 cops in their gear.
