At this stage in the proceedings, it'd probably be quicker and easier to ask who hasn't played SH at some point. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were in fact 4 actors who've played SH that have also played the Doctor in some capacity... Peter Cushing, Tom Baker, Peter Capaldi and Richard E Grant. I was also pleased to see both Ronald Howard from the 1954 TV series, SHERLOCK HOLMES and Ian McKellen from the 2015 film, MR HOLMES get mentioned. I have previously recommended that film on here and have recently watched the TV series from start to finish. Of all the actors listed, the one I'm most interested in seeing would have to be Ian Richardson, based on his performance as Doctor Bell in MURDER ROOMS: THE DARK BEGINNINGS OF SHERLOCK HOLMES. PS - I think they got the top two choices exactly right.

I've liked Ian in a lot of different movies. He's got skills.
Richard E Grant must have had more of a career across the pond........as I've only seen him in a few things here. I remember How to Get Ahead in Advertising, too
I was kinda shocked there were THAT many different people having played the role.

1. He's brilliant. 2. If you can, watch him as THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL. 3. Having been depicted on screen 254 times, GWR today announces that Sherlock Holmes, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's fictional detective, has been awarded a world record for the most portrayed literary human character in film & TV.

3. Interesting. I heard somewhere ......a very long time ago........that more books were written about Jack the Ripper, than Abe Lincoln. Not sure if it's true.......but it says something about the things people find interesting

Of course, the dark side of Human nature is far for interesting than the noble side.

1. Watch him in MR HOLMES, if you haven't already seen it. 2. Worth the effort.

I was making a similar point recently discussing how people shut down, clam up or act uncomfortable if their the neighbor, a cop, stops by their parties.
But the local drug dealer? The life of the party and everyone's cool with it.
Then people have the gall to act shocked by ODs or the Govt that continues to clamp down on drug sales?

Can't say I've ever been fond of parties... And I wouldn't really want to spend time around cops or crims... Unless the mission I was playing required it.
