Vanessa Bryant on Saturday ripped actress Evan Rachel Wood for calling her late husband Kobe Bryant a “rapist” soon after he died in a helicopter crash last year.
“Your false, insensitive, defamatory and slanderous tweet on 1/26/20 is vile and disturbing to say the least,” Vanessa Bryant said in a post on her Instagram Story. “Behavior like this is part of the reason why innocent black men go to jail for crimes they didn’t commit. An accusation doesn’t make someone guilty.”
She said Wood’s tweet “just came to my attention” and added: “YOU DON’T KNOW THE FACTS OF THE CASE.”

I suppose there a lot of us that don't know the facts of the case because it never made it to court. Why is that, I wonder? Could it have anything to do with the civil case that was filed on August 4 and the subsequent dismissal of charges due to the accuser's unwillingness to testify and who then pocketed an estimated $2.5 million in a quiet out of court settlement of the civil case?
I suppose there are a lot of "innocent" men in jail who wish they had the means to buy off their victims.
Kobe even issued a statement that said:
Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual, I recognize now that she did not and does not view this incident the same way I did. After months of reviewing discovery, listening to her attorney, and even her testimony in person, I now understand how she feels that she did not consent to this encounter.
It's carefully crafted but it's essentially the same argument that would have come out in court but without ever having to let a jury make a decision about how her non-consent = rape.
That IS the crux of defining rape, isn't it?
No means no... even when a woman can't actually say it because she has the hands of a pro athlete around her neck... or so I'm told.
How are we men supposed to "teach our sons not to rape" when the people our sons hold up as heroes and role models can seemingly do it with impunity as long as they have the money?
Was Kobe a rapist? Not according to the law, but the subsequent settlement of the civil case really makes it look that way. Just ask OJ.
For me (and a looot of other people) Kobe will always be a rapist. And if Vanessa Bryant doesn't like it, she can suck my dick. Consensually, of course. Not with my hands around her throat.
