Whenever their grandfather visited from Utah, we had to stay away because his new wife was jealous as fuck. Refused to acknowledge dad or us as son & grandkids.

When that man died, dad, my sister & I went to the funeral. The 2nd wife was all "can you forgive me? I should have let him get to know you."

I'm not the one having children. If one parent abandons the child, they might be curious.......but to force that parent on that child? THAT could cause even more damage than the initial abandonment.

Even these days, I find it odd and likely damaging when people get or stay married just to put on an illusion for the kids they created.

Look at that story about the fertility doctor who used his own sperm to father all those babies. Even when there was a male partner providing the sperm, this doc had the crazy need to create dozens of his own children.

I see it as the person who is there for the kid as the parent, yet children often seek out that absent patent.

My co-worker's kid saw daddy (who died when she was 3 or 5) as perfect, treating her better than her mom. She Doce into Hispanic culture, even developed a Spanish accent.

Milana Vayntrub revisited her abortion story during an appearance on Rachel Bilson's podcast Broad Ideas.

The actress, who was introduced to many as AT&T saleswoman "Lily Adams" in the media company's advertisements, joined Bilson and her co-host Olivia Allen to talk through both her career and her personal life. When discussing her activism and thoughts about the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Vayntrub spoke openly about getting an abortion at the age of 22.

"It was never even a thought that I was going to keep that child. There was no part of me that was like weighting the options," she said. "I was with my first boyfriend out of college, who's a great dude and I love and is still my good friend but was not going to be my forever person. I was working at a job that was not paying me enough to even live the life that I had at that moment, let alone take on the giant financial strain that a child is and I just never felt like it was my child."

She went on to further explain how she felt that there had been "a seed planted in me" and rather than feeling connected to the embryo, she thought of it as "a polyp that needed to be removed." Luckily, she had the support of her mother and her mother's health insurance to see a doctor who put her under anesthesia to perform the abortion.

"I was f***ing fine and I didn't think about it again. It was seriously like having a cyst removed and I was crampy for two weeks afterwards and I never thought about it," she said. "I don't think about it until I think about the women who are in that situation and don't have the option."

Vayntrub has written about her abortion experience in detail before when she penned a first-person piece for The Daily Beast in Feb. 2022, urging people to protect reproductive rights.

"This is not a drill, people. All of us with a uterus may soon be stripped of the constitutional right to an abortion. Forced pregnancy and birth sounds medieval—as medieval as secret, unsafe abortions. And yet, here we are," she wrote at the time. "My life as I know it, and motherhood as I know it, was shaped by my right to make choices about my own body. In that way, my birth story is inseparable from my abortion story."

So she's a monster?

Pregnant patients at two Dallas hospitals faced almost double the risk of serious health complications after the state’s abortion restrictions took effect and caused doctors to delay care until their lives were in immediate danger, a new study shows.

Researchers at Parkland Health and UT Southwestern Medical Center found that the Texas laws, which create criminal and civil liability for doctors who perform abortions beyond about six weeks gestation, led to uncertainty about when doctors are legally able to end a pregnancy and profoundly affected their patients.

Chrissy Teigen confessed Thursday that the miscarriage she said she had two years ago was actually an abortion — which came as a surprise to her.

Teigen and husband John Legend had revealed that in September 2020 they lost their son Jack at 20 weeks as a result of a pregnancy complication. At the time, they said it was a miscarriage.

Speaking at social impact agency Propper Daley’s “A Day of Unreasonable Conversation” summit, which was held Thursday (Sept. 15), Teigen said the revelation that it was in fact an abortion came as a shock to her.

“Two years ago, when I was pregnant with Jack, John and my third child, I had to make a lot of difficult and heartbreaking decisions. It became very clear around halfway through that he would not survive, and that I wouldn’t either without any medical intervention,” she said.

Teigen, who shares Luna, 6, and Miles, 4, with Legend and is currently pregnant, noted she had great medical care and loving friends and family supporting her. She was also grateful for strangers who showed their support after the couple went public with the news.

She went on, discussing her miscarriage, before stopping herself. “Let’s just call it what it was: It was an abortion,” the star said. “An abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance. And to be honest, I never, ever put that together until, actually, a few months ago.”

Teigen said she came to the realization after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade earlier this summer. She expressed to Legend that she felt sympathy toward people who have an abortion and the circumstances they had to go through and the emotional decision “they” had to make, when Legend made her realize that she was in fact one of those people.

“I fell silent, feeling weird that I hadn’t made sense of it that way,” Teigen shared. “I told the world we had a miscarriage, the world agreed we had a miscarriage, all the headlines said it was a miscarriage. And I became really frustrated that I didn’t, in the first place, say what it was, and I felt silly that it had taken me over a year to actually understand that we had had an abortion.”

Teigen was doing a talk called “We Made That Choice.” The invite-only event — produced in collaboration with culture change agency Invisible Hand, with The Hollywood Reporter as a media partner — took place at Beverly Hills’ The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, and featured a full day of programming designed to unite television writers, producers and executives with cultural changemakers.

The day’s multiple conversations spanned intellectual humility, mental health, social and economic division, criminal justice, reproductive rights, climate change, responsible tech and more, which are intended to influence future onscreen storylines and help maintain authenticity in narratives seen on screen
