This is actually a thing since certain states worded their regulations poorly. The thing that really makes me laugh is how many of the people flocking to get vaccinated are older, white folks from the southern states... folks that you can be damn sure voted for Trump, called the virus a hoax, and walked around without masks, coughing on masked passersby.

I've heard of it... and it certainly isn't the first time that tourism based on an ulterior motive has occurred. I'm sure many of them are as you describe, but I'm also sure many others probably aren't. And I bet the ones who aren't came up with this idea first... because they're a bit smarter than the others.

You're probably right, but I often get the feeling that Trumpanzees only end up sounding dumb because they're just repeating dumb shit. I think they are actually smart enough to know how to be conniving sons o' bitches.
I read that a couple of younger women even tried disguising themselves as old ladies to get the vaccinations because Florida was only vaccinating the 65 and older crowd.
If they would only put as much effort into putting on a mask for a 20 minute jaunt through a store once a week for the past year, they probably wouldn't have to make so much effort now.

Well, if they sound stupid, because they keep repeating stupid shit... you have to start wondering about just how intelligent they truly are. Lamb done up as mutton?! That must be some sort of historical first... Prevention is always better than cure... or perhaps that's too obvious to these GOP geniuses.

Squirrels aren't as smart as humans, but they still figure out how to reach the bird-feeder.... 2. Interesting way of putting it.
3. Yup. And when almost the entire population is dedicated to prevention, there's way less to worry about. The last spike in China was all traced back to foreigners who snuck out of their quarantine hotels.
Now the quarantine hotels are guarded like prisons.

1. They're also cuter. PS - So are field mice. 2. It's a gift. 3. Yeah, most of our recent COVID problems seem to have been centred around quarantine hotels... and arrogant, whiny individuals full of feelings of their own preeminence and privilege.

I see that you and your "guest" have reached some form of accommodation....
I get the idea of not wanting to be cooped up in a hotel room for a couple weeks, but that's just how things are these days... because so many people simply couldn't be arsed to put on a mask or wash their hands or stand 2 meters away from other people.

"Guests"... plural. Previous generations had to fight WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, the Cold War and so forth... All we had to do was stay home, watch TV, wash our hands and wear a mask if we went down the street to buy essential supplies.

We had it pretty easy comparatively.

We had it pretty easy comparatively. Well, there have been a few fatalities... I think two died of old-age and one drowned. I set out water in buckets so the birds can help themselves when they're thirsty. However, when there's a heatwave - like the one we had for the last three or four days - other creatures seem to pop up to help themselves too. Many years ago, after a similar heatwave, I found a mouse treading water in a half-full bucket one morning. This time, it seems at least one of them couldn't swim. Yeah, who thought we could screw up sitting on the couch in our underwear?

I know it's probably a waste of an effort... all dressed up and nowhere to go.

If put on my face mask and a pair of shades, you might not notice me... not in this city at least: The average height for men here is pushing 180 cm and for women, it's close to 166.

I still think the odds would be more favourable than trying to find you on a crowded Boston street.

I've heard of it... and it certainly isn't the first time that tourism based on an ulterior motive has occurred. I'm sure many of them are as you describe, but I'm also sure many others probably aren't. And I bet the ones who aren't came up with this idea first... because they're a bit smarter than the others. I won't lie, trying a similar scheme has crossed my mind. At least I have a shred of morals.
