You think that stuff isn't known by teens? So kids are 4, turn 6 in kindergarten. That means grade school 1-6 covers 11-12So middle school they are 12+ Or have you been imagining 10 yr Olds? Dude, I was in 8th or 9th grade when I read When Harlie Was One by David Gerald. They started in the bed & ended up in the tub. Or was it the other way around? My mother trusted me to read whatever I deemed fit. My kid was into yaoi. Do you know what yaoi is? Wrote stories back & forth with friends. I trusted my kid On the other hand I took my kid to museums & had art books around the house from when my child was 4 or 5. We loved the Museum Store. My husband's sister came down for a visit so we hit the mall. Her kids ranging from around 7-10 were all pointing out the naked statues like they were something dirty. This is what you get from prudes like those you are defending. I think you're ignoring the difference between what a person seeks out or has an interest in on their own time & dime.........and what the tax payers are paying for and in a way 'supporting' in a school setting.
I remember the Flowers in the Attic craze in my early teens, too. But I certainly don't think it was on the school's shelves.
I had no idea what yaoi was. Why would I? And again, what your kid and the friends got up to in their own time and interests.......none of my concern. Just keep the schools out of it.
I'm perfectly fine with statues. We all know where David came from. Though tons of people seem to think they need tearing down all over the country.
There has to be a reasonable middle ground, merh. What's fine for an 18 yr old is NOT fine for a 5 or 10 yr old. And some of the stuff out there isn't fine for any kids whatsoever.

So it was most certainly on school library shelves if some removed it. You don't have kids, but you can decide what's fit for them to read? Ever read the Bible? There is a while lot of begatting & rape & violence, yet these same parents that want to ban some book have no problem taking their munchkins to building where they talk about a man being beaten & nailed to a cross, maybe with statues of that man on that cross? Yaoi is gay porn written for women in Japan It runs from Boys Love which is not explicit, just romance, kissing, etc to explicit depictions. Remember, thse are often comic books so stuff is shown. When you were a teen, did you manage to locate your share of images? There was always the lingerie section of catalogs

So you kinda made my point........it WAS on some school library shelves. Yikes
I can as a parent definitely decide what's best for that child's upbringing, no? Isn't that pretty much the primary job of parents? Does one need to be a parent to remember what it was like growing up and acknowledge this was good or that was bad?
Is the Bible on all school shelves? And being pushed as reading material within the school? Hey, I saw A Clockwork Orange, too lady. I know those were the best bits for young Alex.
I get it.............I would just have to say if I were a parent?........I'm kinda sure I'd wanna keep that stuff from my kids until they were in their mid to late teens, at least.
I saw my first porno mags at about 11 or 12. What do you think? Perfectly OK? Or should I have been kept from such things until a few years later?
Yeah. (sigh) Victoria's Secret

How did what I say get muddied into what you think I said?
I said from the beginning locking down was the wrong approach and this virus and it's mutations would be around forever. So protecting the truly vulnerable and elderly? Fine. But the rest of us? Get out, get it, get over it and then get back to work. That should have taken a month or two at best.
NOW.........even with that so called vaccine.........people are STILL getting covid? And Govt types are still trying to wield power over others? Completely laughable at this point.

So not laughable, but the new normal you want to be accepted as how we deal with Covid now. Dying is down. Hospitalizations are down.

As one would expect once the first or second wave goes thru the population and takes out those most vulnerable.
But isn't the death count now higher AFTER the vaccine than it was before? I think I'd start calling it a 'booster' rather than a vaccine.

This is funny in a few ways...........
NBC
TikTok users are planning a Mother’s Day strike in support of abortion rights. Not everyone's on board. Some say the planned one-week strike excludes the perspectives of the working class and people of color and was hastily organized.

Indiana Man Charged With Wife’s Murder Prevails in Local GOP Primary This is how the local GOP pitched voting for Duncan Hunter. "He's just accused! Innocent until convicted!" So when he was convicted, we got to spend $50,000 on a special election to fill his seat. Party of fiscal responsibility!
